We are using DVC points in California this summer but could only get a reservation at Disneyland Hotel -- no villas unfortunately. Can we still use the Grand California pool? Are there any other perks we should be allowed to use?

I was hoping we could at least reserve concierge with DVC but they said no to that as well. I hope they give us a good room or when you use DVC points at a hotel are you treated like a Priceline customer and given the bottom of the barrel?

Thank you for any info!

No. I stayed at VGC earlier this month and the pool gates require key cards to get in.

I've used points at PP and got great rooms.

This is good to know-I reserved two rooms at PP for the Disneyland Half Marathon in Sept and hope they are nice! They are theme park view and I've heard you can see World of Color from your room...any truth to that?

The theme park view rooms at PP look directly out over the Paradise Pier section of California Adventure. You will be able to see WOC, but the vantage point won't be that good at all for any of the projections on the mist screens and such. The hotel is across Disneyland Drive from the park, and the view will be looking somewhat at the backside of the show - though not straight on, since the show is angled somewhat. If you just want the flavor of the show, then viewing it from your room at the PPH would be fine, as you'll definitely be able to see the lights, fountains and lasers. The viewing platform over at the Grand Californian would offer a better view of the show itself, though that too is off to the side somewhat.

They will give you a Welcome Home packet when you check in. You will be treated just a DVC member at VGC, except that you will have daily housekeeping.

There is no pool hopping at the Disneyland resort for anybody. DH is opening a brand new pool soon - probably in time for your stay.
