We have the dining plan for our upcoming trip. Last year our 2 youngest dds were considered children on the plan. This year our youngest will be 9 and will be the only one on the child plan. Is it possible to pay the adult rate for her so she can order whatever she wants?

That's an interesting question. If nobody here has any experience with it, maybe calling Disney would help.

I'd think carefully about where you wanted to go and what your 9 year old would want to eat. If you are doing character meals, it doesn't matter. It might work better financially to keep them on the child's plan and order an occasional item OOP.

SOme places allow adult entrees/desserts on the child's plan, and you can certainly choose to share your food with the child. You're looking at $27 per day on the dining plan plus the increased price of the admission ticket--is it worth it based on the way you plan your trip? I'm not being critical. It's a question that only you can answer.

I did not think of the increased ticket price. I was wondering if you could just pay for the extra in the ddp. Our experiance last year was that most ts places had an ok choice for children. Counter service was pretty bad. Cold chicken and carrots...whew! We did pay oop for some childrens meals and used the cs credits during the day when we took a break. Cold chicker seemed better as a snack than lunch. lol. Our 10 year old is the one who really did not like the child menus so that will not be a problem this year. I can just forsee a possible problem when our youngest realizes she is the only one who is ordering from the childs menu. The difference for 6 nights would be abour 162.00. We will save more than that with the ddp and I would almost rather pay the extra to let her get what ever she wants.
