Can you pack any food in a suitcase - flying JetBlue?

I know liquids are a no-no.

But what about cookies, crackers, cereal, granola bars?
Can any of those be in a checked baggage ?
We are flying JetBlue.

Please help.

In a checked bag you can pack any food including liquid! We take lots of grocery items........then that space is empty for the trip home for all the shopping we do on vacation.

On the plane in your carry on you can bring any snacks you like as long as the liquid parts are purchased after security.......we always pack empty water bottles and take through security then fill at a fountain......but if you buy a drink after security you can take it on the plane!

Pack whatever liquid you want as long as it is not a bottle of old lady perfume that can break and spill all over my luggage.

For my flight to WDW last October, I packed a 6 pack of caffeine free Pepsi bottles in my checked luggage. I put each bottle in a ziplock bag and then put all 6 in a 2 gallon ziplock bag. Didn't want them exploding all over my clothes! Gotta have my Pepsi!

So cool - since it is only a 4 night stay, I thought maybe some mini -box cereal, shortbread cookies, packaged pretzels, and some water bottles.

We have never packed food before.
I will use the idea of zip-lock bags to pack the food items - in case of leaks or crumbs.

Pack whatever liquid you want as long as it is not a bottle of old lady perfume that can break and spill all over my luggage.

Or even nice perfume. Having spilled one of my fave perfumes in my car on a roadtrip, I know that even yummy perfume is rank when you have too much of it.


Or even water. I hope you have hard-sided luggage for the water you're packing.


We're checking wine on this trip...we bought a proper wine shipper box with styrofoam, it's going inside the Wine Check bag, AND we're putting the bottles into "wine diapers" before they go into the styrofoam. I don't want to ruin anyone's stuff....

Well I wouldn't pack a jar of pickles or anything like that. Before there were so many luggage restrictions (read: before we had to PAY for checked bags) I used to pack some food in our bags. Now though I try to travel lighter to avoid the checked bag fees (of course that doesn't apply to Jet Blue) but I just get a grocery delivery now from Garden Grocer. It's wonderful...I order cases of water, soda, beer, milk, breakfast items, snacks etc. I plan to find a similar service to use this summer in CA when we visit DL.

If you're packing plastic bottles I don't see any value in doing that...I do agree that the large Zip Lock bags are a good idea. I even put things like sunscreens (if they're the spray type) in plastic bags if I check them...I've had them leak before - probably due to the altitude / pressure. I would only use bubble wrap around glass items. I have been known to use empty water bottles to take booze too. I feel that it's a better bet in plastic so I just transfer it and leave a little air at the top so it's got some give if it would get squished or something. That has worked pretty good for me.

Can I just say thank you. As someone who works for an airline and gets to chat with folks on the receiving end of red wine/perfume/cheap tequila soaked baggage. I do wish more folks were thoughtful of others in this way.

As someone who had their bag ruined a few years ago, by someone who thought they had to pack wine in their suitcase, I thank you for packing yours correctly. Most everything in my bag was ruined (and in their bag also, I'm sure). Those guys who load and unload luggage are not known for being gentle with those bags.

As someone who had their bag ruined a few years ago, by someone who thought they had to pack wine in their suitcase, I thank you for packing yours correctly. Most everything in my bag was ruined (and in their bag also, I'm sure). Those guys who load and unload luggage are not known for being gentle with those bags.

And this is why every single thing that goes in my suitcase gets put in a plastic bag first.
