Can you order only starters/appetizers at Blue Bayou?

Hi,

My parents are going to Disneyland next week and by stroke of luck, I found a BB reservation and booked it for them. Does anyone know if you can just order starters as your meal there? Like just 2 gumbos and salads? They might get dessert too. Or do they make you order an entree? I looked in the post history here and saw that some people said you can, and I saw one person saying you can't as of Aug 2021and that they make you order 1 entree. You all know how much Disney changes stuff, so I thought I'd ask again in case anyone has had any more recent experiences. My parents love BB but don't want a heavy meal earlier in the day.

If my parents decide they don't want the reservation, I will drop it and I will let you all know here first before I do in case anyone wants it (11/8 at 11:20a).

I don't think anyone would be ejected from a restaurant on Disney property for wanting to eat lightly. After hearing the various reports I feel like ordering entrees might be tied to ordering alcohol... like if you want alcohol you need to order an entree. But I don't know for sure.

Oooh okay that makes sense. They don't want anyone drinking on an emptier stomach I guess haha. Thank you for your input!

Not sure if they sell apps by themselves. When we last went in 2018 I know you couldn’t. They can split an entree for a certain price. Used to be $8 but not sure if that changed.

They do sell them by them by themselves now, on the DL website menu page for BB it shows the gumbo, salad, and an asparagus appetizer as a separate price. But yeah from what I read about the past, they used to include a starter with entrees that you couldn't order separately. So...the fact that they separate them on the menu now makes me think you should be able to only order them? But the cynical side of me says they only separated them so they can charge separately and make more $$ :P . Oh nice! I will suggest them to see if there is anything they'd want to split. Thank you!

A note that a split plate and a shared plate are two different things. A split plate (that comes with a charge) gives you extra sides and it'll be separated onto two different plates. A shared plate has no extra charge, but they don't give you any extra sides. You can sometimes request an extra (empty) plate and split things yourself.
