Ive tried the search function. I have had 10 kids and this one stumps me. My DF has a 7 yr old with no health issues that is pushing her to the limit :faint: . I dont like to visit or have him visit. I heard about a book on here that may help her out but :confused3 I cant find the thread and I cant find anything like it in the bookstore.

I know someone knows the book I mean. Im :listen: . I want to buy for her before she goes out of her mind. He isnt aggressive, that is the good news. but he is such a daredevil :scared1: and he wont take no for an answer. She does follow through so maybe this book will help her.

Thanks all :love2:

That is a great book!! Read it when my oldest was about 6 or 7...it really helped me see things more clearly! Good luck.

Parenting your child with love and logic? Don't know if that's what your looking for but it works!

How about Dr. Dobson's The Strong Willed Child? It is from a Christian perpective. I don't know if that would appeal to her. He advocates corporal punishment SPARINGLY. If you are dead set against spanking, this is not for you. We were a time-out only family until my second son came around. He defined strong willed. But by the grace of God, he is my sweetest most obedient child now. But it was a long hard road. Good Luck
It don't know if I did it right but here is a link from Amazon. It looks like you might have to cut and paste. Read the reviews. It will give you insight into the book.

1-2-3 Magic ? It's what a lot of early childhood programs use for behavior management. You can find it at Barnes and Noble or Borders

Great book - halfway through reading and already seeing improvements in a basically well-behaved child. We're working on manners, cleaning up, and whining.

I have read most those books and a few more. I do have to say that my favorite and most helpful book has been "Boundries with Kids" by Drs. Cloud & Townsend. It spans every age and while from a Christian perspective, it isn't overly pushy if you don't share the same beliefs.

thank you all so much!!! I am off to the bookstores tomorrow to buy a few of them. I think my friend needs lots of help and maybe if she reads a few she may get control of her DS. He was so sweet tempered until about 2 years ago when he started school. All my kids settled down when school started he went the opposite way he is great in school per his teachers-- he follows all the rules according to them he almost wears a halo.

I may read the books before I give them to her. I need to adjust my attitude towards him too-I am sure. I actually cringe when I see him. I take care of my DS6 and my 6 grandbabies (all under 8) all the time alone and this one kid just sets me off. You have to follow him all the time. One day he said he had to go to the bathroom. Ok he is 7. Go in the house and go. Well he went out the front door-- I never trust him all alone. Went to the side of my house and was starting to climb up the side of my house. He said he just wanted to. LOL He does such dangerous things. Ive raised 5 boys and yes they have done things that make me cringe but not all the time.

 thanks again.

Sometimes children have sensory integration problems (different than ADHD) that drives them to bounce off the walls. Once these kids receive proper occupational therapy, or even some home based therapy, there is a turn-around. There is a book called The Out of Sync Child, and it will shed light of some of the "tough case" kids out there.

Alternately...do a web search for Sensory Integration...and see if the symptoms fit and what the resources are. It is worth looking into.

A good friend has read several books on gentle discipline. She is really great with her two. They are sooo well behaved. Id really like to learn at thing or two on this myself. I find myself getting overly annoyed by things lately.
