I am currently in the position to purchase all necessary home appliances. So far, this would include a washing machine, gas stove and freezer. I have used just about every combination of words in a search engine and came up with not very much. My problem is I live in Italy. My current search is for a quality washing machine (front loader). I have no idea if items in England are different than those found in Italy.

In case there are some similarities, the following seem to be my options.....Electrolux, Whirlpool, AEG, Hoover, Candy, Bosch and some others I can't remember. Honestly, I am only familiar with Whirlpool since I used to live in America. (most other brands I associate with vacuum cleaners and power tools.....Hoover, Electrolux, Bosch). Now I am looking at a very costly purchase and have no idea which is better and since all other Americans I know get all appliances furnished through the military, I am on my own with this. I don't know Italian well enough to ask the right questions and unfortunately, if I did, the sales people would tell me whatever they can to sell the product. I need for these items to last more than 3 years with little repair needs. If anyone can help me I would appreciate it greatly. :goodvibes

Bosch is a very good make, we have found their products to be very well made and also reliable.

Well I had Candy and it did me well for over 12 years, I have only just replaced it with another Candy:thumbsup2

If you look at UK electrical shop website it will give you an idea of what's available. Try these sites:

http://www.currys.co.uk/

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Home.htm

http://www.empiredirect.co.uk/

Model numbers should be very similar in Italy.

You could try printing the pages of the items you like and take them along to local electrical shops to see if they have the same models.

You will find the best, most reliable products are made by Bosch, AEG, Miele - but these are also the most expensive too. All machines should come with a 1 year warranty, but you should be able to increase this to up to 5 years through the manufacturer (the extended warrantees that stores try to sell you are usually more expensive).

Thanks for all your help. :thumbsup2
