I am thinking about cutting my hair. :scared:

It has been in the same basic, long, no-style style since high school...over ten years. I need a change. I want to go shorter, but I have a wide, square face, with what you might call a strong jaw line, and I don't know what would be most flattering. Can someone suggest something, maybe share a pic if possible?

Well, without seeing you but based on your description, I'm thinking Jennifer Aniston. She has a wide face with a very strong jawline (angular). What you need to do there is soften up around the face. I would cut the hair to just below the shoulders with lots angling up through the jawline. Add some layers in at the bottom. But a lot depends on your hair type and if it is thick, fine, straight, curly.

If you have always (or at least for the past 10 years) had LONG and I mean really long hair I would go much shorter than mid back (bra line).

I have always had really long hair too and I HATE it and feel totally not like me ..almost naked when my hair is even an inch or two BELOW my shoulders. Just above my bra line on my back is perfect for me.

I do agree with some VERY long layers.. and tapering it around your face. Maybe even razor cutting it around your face so it is nice and wispy = soften up the square lines of your face.
