Can you get your fast pass with room key in the park?

We had planned to stay at Royal Pacific for one night as usual to get the two days fast pass. However my best friends family now struggling to justify the trip so I am thinking of ways that they can save money. So if they stay at Cabana Bay instead and just got early entry, could I say there were five people staying in our room instead of three and then use the two spare fast passes for their two teenage girls. They wouldn't be able to be with us at check in but could meet us in the park later. My friend not bothered about getting on the rides but her girls are.
I guess it's exactly the same as if the girls stayed with us so not doing anything wrong buy just wondered if there are machines in the park. I have a vague recollection of having to get replacement fast passes before when ours got wet.

We are not checking out of our main hotel, Bonnet Creek. We do this every year and works well. My husband doesn't even stay at the Universal hotel and goes back to BC and meets us the next day. One early start enough for him!

On our last trip, there were no kiosks in the park to get you express passes using your room key. The passes had to be obtained in the lobby kiosks of the hotel.

As long as five people are allowed in the RP room, you should be fine with adding them to your reservation. I know that they charge $25 per night for each adult after two, but I'm not sure what the age cutoff is for that. They WILL need to be on the reservation in order to get the EPs, and it does have to be done at the hotel. They need to be physically present to have their picture taken.

It seems that they will do replacement EPs in the parks... I'd hate to assume that they will also create your original one there, and then find out that you do have to go back to the hotel after all. (If, for example, their system can access the already-created EPs and reprint them, but can't complete the actual process of linking the EP to the room key, which is what the in-hotel kiosk does.) It wouldn't hurt to ask in-park if you're already there, I suppose, but being the planner that I am, I wouldn't want to assume that they'll be able to do it.

I think it would be worthwhile for the OP to call Guest Services and ask because it might be possible. It would be a shame if they could do it at the park and save themselves the time but instead they assumed it couldn't be done.

it was like that last year as well.
but the peeps need to be registered at the deluxe hotel in order to have the ep made.
when the tm pulls up the info on the computer, it will show the guest is registered and staying onsite at the hotel.
i have no idea if it will show a person checked in and registered at both hotels.
i'm referring to your quote of replacing the ep card.

So, the express passes can be made at Guest services in the parks as long as there is a room key matching. I would assume that there are probably no restrictions on staying at two hotels since people can have the same name. You could have a Dave Smith staying at several hotels at once. I guess a solution would be to not register anyone twice. Everyone is just going to be meeting outside the park anyways, most likely.
