Yes it's possible for that to happen but like Robo said not likely.
The gag is written to fake out the spray of water and skippers are apparently being told to stick to the script so it's unlikely a skipper would speed up the boat to intentionally soak the boat.
So yes it can happen but the skipper has to try to do to make it happen.
