Thom had the kids last Monday for the day (he took it off) and then Tuesday he had to go to the doctor for strep throat. Yesterday, my throat really started hurting and it's still hurting. I didn't have any direct contact with Thom, but I did have the kids back Monday night. They're not sick....could one of them have carried it home to me without getting sick themselves?

Yes. You don't have to "catch" something just because you come in contact with the germs. It's quite possible that your kids did get the germs on themselves, but for some reason their immune systems created antibodies and yours didn't.

yes one of your children could be an asymptomatic carrier of strep-one of my sons was when he was small. If you test positive you should have both of your children tested because even though they do not show symptoms of strep they can still suffer from the side effects like scarlett fever and what not.

Okay....I didn't want to go to the doctor for what most likely was just a sore throat from allergies, but I think I'll go if you can catch strep that way.
