Are AP members able to take advantage of FD promotions?? Or must you buy tickets also?

We are AP holders and book room only. If free dining is announced for the general public we only need to purchase a 1 day ticket to be eligible for free dining for the length of our stay. That 1 day ticket does NOT need to be used, we can save it for a trip a few years down the road, OR we can use it towards the purchase of an AP renewal and get the 1 day price deducted from our renewal rate (ie $79 off current renewal price).

The real question is will the free dining be worth more than the AP discounted rate on a room. In our case we need to book 2 rooms or a villa, so more often than not the room discount turns out to be a better value. We also have the TiW card which helps offset the cost for dining a smidge.

Tickets do have to be bought. And, there were some changes this year to package deals that required length of stay tickets that in 2009 did not.

While no one knows for sure what will happen if free dining is again offered, there is always the chance that Disney will change the rules and make everyone get more than the 1 day ticket.

Thanks I guess I'll have to see ifbits even offered. We are going in late Aug.

Ditto for us. We booked bounceback last year and had to get a 1 day ticket. I've used that, just as you said, towards the renewal price of my AP.

This is the third year for us doing this. We've been able to get free dining as well this way.

You're right on the discount though. There are times, depending on our resort selection, where using just the AP discount on rooms and the TIW card (or AP discount on select restaurants), where it pays to not take the free dining.

Happy planning.........

Are AP members able to take advantage of FD promotions?? YES

Or must you buy tickets also? YES

AP holders here and we've booked the free dining BB package a couple of times. Yes, we have to buy the ticket in order to purchase this package. We generally buy one day ticket and save it and apply it to our AP renewal later.
