Can you get credit if your fares go down on SW

Our flight just went down to $20 one way. We already paid $10 to have the better seating choice. Can we get a credit for the $20 they went down?

Yes it will be in the form of travel funds. They will not refund the $$ back to a credit card unless you purchase the refundable fare.
The credit on the travel funds have to be used by the orginal purchase date of the ticket.

Isn't it one year from the original purchase date of the ticket? It would be impossible to use the credit by the original purchase date since the lower price came out after the original purchase date.

Yes but make sure you use the option to change your flight, do not cancel the flight. You will lose the EBCI that you paid for if you cancel your flight and book a new flight. If you change your flight you will keep the same confirmation number which is what keeps your EBCI in place.

Also, make a note of the confirmation number for your flight. When you want to use the $20 in travel funds, you will need the confirmation number to access them.

ETA: By "change your flight" I mean, use the "Change Flight" option but you can choose exactly the same flight again, but at the lower price.

You can use the credit for another flight for one year from the original purchase date. But be aware, when you use that credit, the new flight will have an expiration date of the credit's expiration date. May not be worth it for a small credit.
