Can you get a princess "do" at the barbershop?

I think I read this somewhere? That you can get a princess hairdo for cheaper than BBB (which isn't so much an issue, but it is booked for the times we wanted it). Anyway- do you have to make a ressie at the barbershop or is it just first come, first served?

Has anyone done a princess do at the barbershop on Main Street?

The Barbershop on Main Street is first come, first serve and you have to get there pretty early if you don't want to wait in a huge line. They don't do a princess do...instead, they'll pull your hair up into a poytail and sprinkle glitter and colored hair spray all over.

Unfortunately, they (the barber shop) are not allowed to do updos anymore. We were there the first week of June (they only take walk ins by the way). My DS was going to get his hair cut, and my DD decided to get her hair cut as well. THey had both had their hair styled here last year. THey still put the colored gel and "pixie dust" in their hair, but Penny said they are no longer able to do styles (DD"s hair was in one pony tail) due to the BBB in the park now.

our DD4 got her hair cut. they put it up into a ponytail and added the color and confetti. our DD9 did not get her hair cut. she already had her hair in a ponytail and braided. they just put the color and confetti on it as it was.

i saw a few young teen girls that were before us who had the barber put their hair up and got the color and confetti. they were styled very simply, but each one looked different.

i don't know how much "styling" they did in the past, but my DDs' hair looked good just in a ponytail with the confetti (they received tons of compliments and several people thought it was BBB). since it was only about $5 (free with a haircut) i wouldnt expect them to take alot of time putting it up. they also don't take appointments, so spending more than a few minutes would make for a really long line.

Thanks for the info! That is a bummer if they won't do updo's! Not a necessity for us, but I thought it might be fun. Oh well, I will keep trying BBB!

When we went a few years ago, my daughter (I think she was 4? 5?) had her long hair up in two ponytails. The lady left them in and just kind of twisted them up into messy (in a good way) buns. Then she added in all the confetti and stuff. It looked REALLY cute and we got tons of comments. This was before the BBB opened.

Anyway, my point is, you could do the "up" part yourself - they could just embellish it. Way cheaper!

That's Miss Penny, we LOVE LOVE LOVE her, my DD gets her hair cut from Miss Penny every time we're at WDW.

They will still pixie dust and put hair up in a pony tail but that's it these days.

I've had Miss Penny do my hair when we're down.
