Does anyone know if you can freeze cream cheese? The box does not say one way or another. Thank you.

I haven't thawed out the cream cheese yet, but I discovered you can freeze ricotta cheese. I froze it at the same time as the cream cheese. I used the ricotta tonight for a pasta sauce & it was fine. Just an FYI ...

Hi. I have made up cheese balls that has cream cheese in them, and through them in the freezer, so I guess you can freeze cream cheese.

In my experience, I find I can freeze fully fatted cream cheese. When I've tried to freeze store brand, low fat cream cheese, upon thawing it becomes watery & has a wierd texture, a texture like a broken sauce.
I emphasized store brand because sometimes these things vary & others may have different experiences with their particular brands.
So nowadays I freeze only fully fatted cream cheese.

i was going to say the same as Jean..maybe cause i usually use low fat it almost is crumbly when you thaw it.. ok for most cooking since it melts anyway but i don't know about baking since the texture is different & not sure if i want it "raw" on a bagel.. i did make some dips and freeze them and they were fine so maybe the additional ingredients help it freeze better

I have had the same experience as jean. It was not full fat cream cheese so maybe that was the reason. It was kind of grainy. I used it but never froze lower fat again.
