Can you drop someone off at a Disney park without paying the parking fee?

We are planning on dropping our relatives off at some Disney Parks. Can this be down without having to drive through the gates and pay the hefty parking fee?

It's been a few years since I've been dropped off, but when I was (2001)we didn't have to pay to go through the gate. Just tell the worker at the booth that you're dropping off and they'll tell you which way to go.

If they don't want to let you through to drop someone off, they have to let you through anyway to make a U turn. If worse comes to worst you can drop the folks off at a resort and they can take a bus.
