can you drop off rental car at port canaveral?

If we landed in Orlando, got rental car, then either stayed at MILs near Vero or at nearby hotel can we then leave a rental car check back the rental car at Port Canaveral? I hate having loose ends and MIL wont give an answer to whether she will be cruising with us or not till probably the fall.
