We have been debating what shore excursions to do. In Cozumel, we want to see the San Gervasio ruins but really don't want to go to the beach afterwards, Is it possible to take a tour or some other kind of transportation there on your own ? We consider Castaway Cay our full "beach day" and just want to see some of the island. We have also been to Tulum the last time we were in Cozumel and want to spend time on the island itself. Any suggestions ?

This was what we planned to do on our 11 May Inaugural. When you get off the boat, there is an area across the street with a big sign posted with taxi prices. They quote $35 round trip to San Gerisimo. I'm not terribly clear on how you get back, but I'm guessing they give you a voucher of some kind to give to the driver on the other end. The guy we talked to made a point of saying that when the cabs drop you off, DON'T let someone "sell you" tickets to the ruins. Go up to the gate. Tickets to the ruins are just a few dollars, but there are several entrepeneurs (sp???) that will be happy to sell you $10 tickets to the ruins that they bought for $1 or $2.

As best as I could tell, the taxi prices were a flat rate, not per person.

We ended up going deep sea fishing instead, because DH really didn't want to look at old rocks (lol). Hope you enjoy yourself!
