Can you convince me to cruise from Galveston

We flew into Hobby last Disney cruise. Our hotel had a shuttle so we took that to the hotel, and arranged to have it take us the next morning to the terminal, and then the next morning the shuttle took as no problem. As somebody else mentioned the terminal isn't a disney terminal, so felt more like cruising out of long beach, which we didn't care about, as we didn't go for the terminal exeprience. Thats kind of like being mad that disney didn't have their owm airport to fly into on your trip to the cruise ship. I kind of wished we had a little more time to explore the little old town area outside the terminal though.

We sailed out of Galveston on our Royal cruise this past April. I really didn't like the port. The terminal is like a warehouse and when sailing out it just didn't feel like I was sailing off to the Caribbean. Customs when we returned was an absolute nightmare. If I was needing to fly for my Disney cruise I would cruise out of Port Canaveral. Taking time off for work has a cost and all the other small things you have to get in order or set up for your time away from home does too making any cost savings by choosing a Galveston disney cruise less of a component of the overall cost to vacation.

Most ports are not going to be all shiny and new like Port Canaveral. A lot of them old, dirty and feel like make shift warehouses especially over in Europe. I would not let a terminal be a deciding factor in what cruise I choose. How much time do spend in the terminal?

Earlier this year we sailed out of Galveston. Looked at rental car. Enterprise is the only place on the island of Galveston. They had at least a $100 drop off fee and said that they would NOT take us to the port. So we would have had to get a taxi (not a problem). Since we were arriving early evening the night before the cruise, we chose to do a private car from Super Shuttle to our hotel, then in the morning (well it turned out to be early afternoon-FOG!) we got a taxi to take us to the port. There were plenty of options in our hotel area for dinner and the hotel had a nice breakfast.
