Can you check a case of bottled water?

Can we put a luggage tag on a case of bottled water and have it sent to the room? I don't want to carry a case of water around before the room is ready. I think we've always spent $$$$ for the bottled water onboard either being sent to the room or we buy as many as we feel like carrying from any of the bars. I do fill a bottle at the soda machine and carry it around, but we drink a lot of water and it's not convenient to get to the soda machine.

No you can't, and people have tried. If they find it in your checked bags they'll remove it as it could burst and damage other bags. I get that lugging it around is inconvenient, so maybe put it in a rolling suitcase so it's a bit easier. You could also consider bringing on a Brita filter.

On our recent cruise somehow the waters didn't get in our carry on but we were putting them in as we took the bags out of the car and separated the checked/carry ons (we had 4 adults so lots of bags). The porter saw us doing this and he told us to slap a tag on the case and he could take it along with our luggage. We know Disney does not allow this so we sort of said no, but he kept pushing it with us. I finally said I don't think that's allowed and he told us it would be fine. We stuck to our guns and declined, but with the porters doing that, I'm surprised more cases aren't checked. :sad2:

The porters at PC would take your case of water and check it like baggage for years. We had zero issue doing this. Then in July, the porter said DCL had just told them they could no longer take cases of water as checked luggage, so they wouldn’t take our water. In October, the porter tried to take our case of water as checked luggage again, and said DCL was ok with it again. Who knows what the real story is.

I always wanted to drink bottled water, because I thought the ship water made my feet swell. Turns out, it was the chicken nuggets! And I just drink the ship water every cruise now.

I think we were able to put a luggage tag on a case of water on Princess. I can see why the porters would be mixed up if other cruise lines allow it. It was long enough ago, that I could be remembering wrong, though.

We've had the porters in Port Canaveral and NYC take our water as recent as October. We slapped a luggage tag on it, It always showed up in the room.
