Can you check a case of bottled water at SWA/ME?

Has anybody checked a case of bottled water on SWA and used ME?
Will SWA allow you to check a case of water?
I don't want to have to do a grocery run just for water.
Can you stick the yellow ME tag on a case of water and have it end up in your room?

I brought a cooler filled with water on our last trip. It was a soft-sided one that was foldable when empty. I made sure to weigh it when I packed it so it didn't end up too heavy. It worked out great!
