I don't know if this came up yet, so I thought I'd ask.

I'd like to do an add on of about 50 points in the next year when I have the cash marked specifically to pay it all off at once.

Could I charge the points with Disney Visa and then pay the balance off?

I know you couldn't charge with the Disney Credit Card, I was wondering if anybody has heard anything about this.

Thanks.:)

I put my 250 point purchase on my AOL Visa, then paid it off with money from different sources. Got 5 or 6 months free AOL. I'm sure any VISA would work.

Absolutely. Great way to do it. If you have a credit card with frequent flier miles, that might even be a better alternative.

I just put my small add-on onto my Southwest Visa and my guide even asked me what date I wanted it charged.

Same here. We did a 70 point add on a couple of years ago and charged it to our Southwest Visa towards a Rapid Rewards RT voucher.

I've put all of my point purchases on my Amex for Membership rewares. Just based on these purchases, I have a round trip ticket!!!!

Points and rewards all in one swipe - now that's thinking the Disney way!

You can use it to purchase points, but they don't give reward dollars for DVC purchase's.

I was just looking through the guide that came with the Disney Visa, I don't see any items that are excluded.

This is exactly what I was wonering KNWVIKING. I know they wouldn't let me use the regular Disney Credit Card, so I was wondering if they would exclude the Disney Visa.

Please let me know if you find something that says you can't.

Thanks!:)

You can purchase points on the Visa.
I've searched, but right now I cannot find anything that specifically states you will not earn rewards on DVC points. However, I KNOW the Bank One representative read that to me in the five minute disclosure that was recited when I applied for the card. (I felt really bad for her. That was a lot of info.)
During my search I did find a statement on the Bank One website that states, "You can accrue rewards in the form of Disney Dream Reward Dollars by making RETAIL purchases of goods or services."
Hope this helps. :D

Maybe the possibility of purchasing DVC points would explain the ridiculously high limits we heard rumours about:cool:
Nah .... couldn't be :p why that would be insidious ...
Just think of the wheels turning im Ei$ners head ... DVC contracts purchased with the Disney VISA and those double billing cycles

Can someone explain the "double billing cycle" everyone is talking about? We always pay off every month. Does that affect me? Does this have anything to do with the due dates, like most give 25 days from close of billing cycle. Please help we have already put a lot on this card. TIA

This thread made me call up the Bank One information line because I am planning to pay for an add-on with the dreaded Disney Visa and they say that the reward points are given for anything you purchase, as distinguished from cash advances and balance transfers, and purchasing DVC points would count.

We will see if they are giving out correct info.

As for paying with the card, my guide says they're not yet authorized to accept the Disney Visa for payment (ironic, eh)? and she's going to let me know when they are.

 I haven't gotten mine yet... the phone number says they're still reviewing. But I had thought of it for my impending add-on. I would have thought that a Visa is a Visa is a Visa... I mean they didn't ask which kind of American Express I had (Skymiles). Let us know when they get it set up please.

I know somewhere..maybe on the "rumors" board.. I read this same comment. Must be what I had mistaken for "purchase DVC but no points" because I can't find any mention of DVC specifically in any literature. I have used other Visa cards to purchase three ad-ons, but DVC may look at the couple points Bank One will take off the purchase, plus another point in reward dollars and figure the price is to steep.

Why would DVC accept "VISA" but not the "Disney Visa"? We wanted to charge our 100 point add on, but will use AMEX if Disney Visa does not give reward points for this purchase. I called Bank One and they advised me that all purchases (except Cash Advances) are eligible for reward points, but after reading this thread I am not sure...

It wouldn't surprise me if they don't ever accept it. When we went to put a down payment on our contract we asked which credit cards they would accept and I recall they accept pretty much everything except the Disney Credit Card. Which had me befuddled since they weren't even offering any rewards with that card.. Talk about a useless card, and a hefty penalty if your payment was even one day late!!!!

So now I'm wondering, if they won't accept the Disney Visa, are they going to stop accepting ALL Visas? I mean are they allowed to pick and choose WHICH Visas they'll accept?

TDC Nala, will you please let us know if anything changes and they allow you to use your Disney Visa for your add-on? If they decide never to honor Disney Visa, I'll just get the Universal Studios Card and use that for an add-on.
