Does anyone know if you can buy a case of water at the SSR general store and roughly how much it costs? Also, what about 1% milk by the gallon??? Diet Coke?? If I can just get these things I'll ship a box with the rest of the items I need.

Will you have a vehicle?

There are grocery stores only a couple of miles up the road.

We usually go up to Publix or Goodings (a bit expensive) to buy things....although we drive so we bring a lot of stuff ourselves.

You may even want to rent a car for a day....with discount coupons or deals (hotwire.com), you may be able to get a car for a day for about $15-$25 which would allow you to run errands to the grocery store etc. and have some freedom for a day. My guess is that Disney will charge you more than that if you want a large shopping order.

You may also want to try a shopping service like gardengrocer.com or wegoshop.com

They do have milk at the resort stores, but I think they are 1/2 gallons, not full gallons..I also think they are 2%. not 1%. Water by the case..no. Diet coke...yes, but still pricey.

You cannot buy a case of Coke or water at SSR. You can get a 1/2 gal. of 1% milk. On our last trip, I walked over to the Hess Station from the Pleasure Island bus stop. It was a short walk and the coke products, including Dasani water, were two cases for $5.50 -- not too bad.

I agree with the Hess Station. It is alot closer than Gooding's too. There is a crosswalk from the DTD bus stop directly to Hess too!
Excellent Prices. :thumbsup2 They even have Krispy Kreme's for $6 dz.

As for the prices at the resort, expect to pay retail on chips, boxed donuts and for other deli items and bread, milk, eggs and cheese. Expect to pay non sale prices and then add about $1 to each item.

Like a loaf of bread is $2.99. 1/2 gallon of milk is $3 etc. Basically you will pay more than you would like, but you will not save enough to cover the cost of a trip to the grocery store via taxi or rental unless you are purchasing large quanitities of groceries or liquor.

They do sell charcoal (Matchlight) I know you did not ask, but wanted to give a range of items they stock. No cases of water though. I did see 2 liter soda ($2.??) and individual water, gatorade and sodas.

We hate going offsite, so if we only need to replenish, we just buy at the resort and we often have our vehicle. Next time we are using Garden Grocer if we run out of anything.

I have to laugh because to us Californians that is what a loaf of bread costs at the store... Double that price if you want to buy a name brand type bread.

We also pay about $2.20 for a half gallon. Defnitely cheaper to buy the gallon.

I guess to me Florida prices are pretty reasonable.

Thanks everyone! I think I'll just use GardenGrocer.com but the HESS station idea is very appealing....HMMMMMMMM! I think I'll have to think about it.

I agree that the prices are not really that bad! Not Wal Mart prices, but reasonable, especially considering the time savings over going to a grocery store. And the last place I want to be on vacation or any other day is at WM!

Oh a box of cereal is $5-$6 but considering you can feed the whole family breakfast for less than $10 with a box of cereal and a 1/2 gallon of milk and Chef Mickeys would cost us $80 albeit with awesome character interaction, that price is not too out of line either! :rotfl:

The DTD Hess Station even has a pizza shop inside of it. It's about Little Caesars quality, but the kids liked it and we were tired!

:drinking1 I certainly hope so, and yes, as far as I know you can but beer at conveience store/gas stations in Florida.

:thumbsup2 Yes and their prices are pretty good. I believe I saw wine also. No hard liquor (do they still say that?).

You could also use Disney's service , although I never read about anyone doing this . Why is that , no one like it?

Here's what they offer for SSR for $5.00

I think you can just go down to the convenience store and pick up the items without the $5 fee. These are all the things they sell in the store. That's why I haven't used it.

Will you be flying? I checked with Northwest Airlines and they told me that you CAN pack pop in your checked luggage. I was worried about the pressurization factor. They told me that the ENTIRE plan is pressurized, which will have NO effect on your packed soda. If you think about it, the flight attendants offer you soda during your flight. How could they do that, if there was a problem with pressure? NWA said you can pack your soda and check it as checked luggage, and it should be fine. Now mind you, I would probably pack it in a box and NOT your suitcase, just in case. Hope this answer helps:)
