can you bring food into the parks?

Hello,

I'm hoping someone can clue me in on what the Disney rules are for brining food into the parks. I will be traveling with my 18mo old daughter, and would like to bring snacks and maybe even her lunch. I thought I read somewhere, however, that you are not supposed to.

We always bring a small cooler that fits in our stroller. We usually fill it with snacks, drinks, maybe a sandwich for the kids. For security reasons they search it however, no one has ever told us we couldn't take it in. We go 2x a year for the past 7 years and have always brought food in.

I don't know the policy, but nobody will stop you for bringing baby food or snacks into the parks.

Large coolers are not allowed (fthere is an official size definition for "small", but I don't remember what it is ... just figure if you need 2 hands to carry it, it's too big.)

Alcoholic beverages are not allowed

Glass containers are not allowed

and for AK, disposable plastic straws are not allowed.

Aside from those guidelines, snacks and even small meals are allowed.

We do it all the time - saves a ton of money!! Those drinks add up!!

I think the official line is that you are not supposed to but I see people doing it all the time. Anywhere from a small snack in a fanny pack to (I see this more and more) not so small coolers on wheels. As long as you do not go into a sit down restaurant and take over a seat for your picnic it seems anything goes. I am thinking of joining them next trip with a small wheeled cooler myself. Have to be small enough to fit on rides and such though. Anyone have any input on whether they were able to take their portable picnics on rides, buses and such?

It is easier to stay on my diet (as well as budget) when I eat my familar foods.

Years ago I had some friends that completely and totally embarassed thier children by bringing PB&J sandwiches with them to MK. 15 years later the kids (now adults) have never let them forget it. I always thought it was funny, but, with the costs of eating in the parks as high as it is, it can add up to a lot of money with a moderate sized family.

I've never seen them stop anyone that just had stuff in a backpack of reasonable size.
