Can you book a trip that overlaps beginning of your use year month with 1 reservation?

I am looking to book a trip at a non home resort that overlaps use years. We have an October use year and plan to travel Sept 27- oct 3. When we book, what is going to happen with the overlap of use year?? Will I be able to make this one transaction or do I have to make 2 separate reservations and then call MS to combine them?

You have to book through MS or have them combine them.

I'm really surprised by that answer. Why is that, do you know? I've never seen anything on the dvc member website that cautions against it, but then I've never come across that issue in my membership. Is it a technical issue with the automated system?

it's something with the automated system. we had that problem twice with trips over our Dec. 1 use year. part of it is that part of your points are one use year and the other the next.

The bummer is, that you cant secure the entire trip exactly at 7 months at 8 am. I will only be able to book the 4 nights, then have to wait and see if the last nights are still available after the 4 days. Its like booking two separate stays instead of securing a full week. This really stinks.

MS can book the entire stay during one phone call.

So they can book my nights by calling but I lost the hour window, correct? Or I can at least book the first few nights then call to add the rest?

As noted, to do the entire reservation on line you would have to make two reservation, one for the Sep nights and then a separate 7 months out from Oct 1 for the Oct nights. The computer system is set to do reservations using a single use year (including banked and borrowed points brought into that use year). After making both reservations on line you would call or email MS to have them linked.

Ypu can as noted just call MS and it can do the whole reservation at 7 months out. That, of course would mean you would have to wait until 9 a.m., and then wait likely another 20 minutes while you are on hold.

There is a third alternative that should work although I am not sure whether a rookie MS agent would understand the logic. You are entitled to reserve up to 7 nights at 7 months out from date of arrival. Since your trip is only six nights, you should be able to book the Sep nights online at 8 a.m. at 7 months out and then call at 9 a.m. to add the remaining October nights to the same reservation.

I have come across this a few times as we have an August UY and we like to fly to WDW the last Wednesday in July (school holidays). I book the July nights myself then call MS to add the August ones.
