We are going with other families this year, our 2nd Grand Gathering. Since they only have 3, they offered to register one of our daughters in their room. Their package price increased by only $70. We booked one room with 2 adults, 2 children plus 1 infant. We definitely want a second room. Our plan is to do a room only with either AP or AAA discount. However, I am now wondering if we'll be allowed to do this? Does the additional room only have to be in a name that doesn't appear on our original package reservation?

I was initially going to just book the package for me and the 3 DDs and put the room only in DH's name, (this based on advice I got right here on the Dis). However, when we realized adding one to the other family's ressie only added up to $70 we figured since we expect some offsite visitors the extra dining credits would be well worth it. Did we screw things up royally, or what? Please, someone, advise!

I had a TA to do my ressie and we have booked a package at first from July 24 to July 29. But now we decided to fly in late night on July 23 before our original package starts and we just needed an extra night of room only (without the dining plan). I think my TA made another ressie for room only under the same name for July 23 and linked the ressies together for us. Hope that helps!

We want to add a room only, then request the room only and the package room be connecting. I know this is confusing. We want 2 reservations simultaneously, or one reservation that includes a package and a room only.

It will be far cheaper to book 2 adults, 2 children, and one infant in one room as a package (to get free dining) and book a room only w/ either AP or AAA, than it would be to book packages to include 2 rooms. Am I getting to the point or making things even more murky?

We were told that since our kids are under 18...we need to book 2 rooms under the package, bookin i adult and 1 child per room. Also, even tho our kids are 16 and under and others on the boards say they will not split up families who need 2 rooms...EVERY CM I spoke with told be absolutely no guarantee of connecting or joining rooms. They did say they would do everything they could to accomodate us, but that there has been a lot of requests for this at the values due to DDP. And since the plan has not ( or just today) gone public...it's all us DISer's who are booking them up! ;) Just passing on what I have been told, as compared to us at a deluxe for daybed...we'd save $800 to do 2 rooms POP at package price both rooms for 8 nights vs CR 1 room pkg price. I hope you are able to get a better answer, but I have not had any luck. Plus, we were hoping to get a K/DBL connecting...so odds of that are even slimmer...and TBH, I STILL would gamble it, but DH says no way. And he's right, even tho $800 is a huge amount, us having peace of mind that we are all together and getting to enjoy the upcoming excitement of the trip vs. will it work out ...kind of has me putting a price on my families heads.... but I sure do hope it works out for others, 'cause there are around 40 connecting rooms per building I think, and there are a LOT of value buildings....just not a gambler I guess.

Does anyone out in Dis-land, Oh I mean WORLD :rotfl2: have a different answer. I fear FINFAN is correct

It may be a mute point now anyway. Since tha package prices are based on "value" season I may just call back and split up our current one room ressie to 2 rooms on the package. Decisions, decisions...

Thanks for any and all help!

You may be able to do it since you have 3 kids....basically, if you and I were trying to check in at the same time, each having identicle ressies requests, I believe your family would trump mine as technically, you can't have 5 in a value, even if it is an infant, therefor requiring the additional room, where as we can fit in 1 room but are looking for the room of another. I don't know....like I said, it may be fine, many do it all the time, busy or slow season and have never had a problem...I think you would be fine.
