Can you book a Minnie Van a few hours in advance?

I want to book a Minnie Van for our MNSSHP night so that we don't waste party time waiting for a bus, or wind up having to take a regular Uber to the TTC. Is it possible to book a Minnie Van in advance for a specific pick up time at your resort? Like could I book it in the morning to be picked up at 5PM? Thanks!

Rideshare services (Uber/Lyft/Minnie Van/etc.) are intended to be on-demand services, you request to be picked up in the app at the time that you need service. If you are trying to book transportation in advance you would have to book a private car service such a Mears sedan.

While you have a great idea, sadly, one that can't happen
As mentioned above, on demand only
And, often they are NOT available. Especially at high volume times for popular things like parties, after fireworks, park openings, closings, etc.
We tried to request one over the summer. And now I'm not even able to recall exactly what the circumstances were, I know it was me, DH and DGD so it was sometime in July, maybe when we were trying to reach MK on July 3rd. Anyway, opened the app, and not one single Minnie Van. App said, to the effect, no vehicles available to fill your request, or something along those lines. Wouldn't even give us a wait time for one, it was so long.
So you are correct, it's not something you can count on positively around a high volume time and you do for sure need to plan a back up transportation option. Give yourself enough time to catch the bus, etc.

Actually, with regular Uber and Lyft you can schedule a pickup in advance. For Uber, up to 30 days.

Yeah, you can. But really not a well oiled machine. It doesn't really send out your request to drivers till it's time for your ride. Because drivers are still set their on schedule kinds of employees so it's not something Uber or Lyft can tell someone to plan to do ahead of time, ya know? AlI it does it is do it for you instead of you doing it. And sometimes, it "forgets" to do it for you. Really, you are MUCH better off to do it yourself.

My mom has been dealing with just how awful this system is with her medical ride feature with her Medicare supplemental insurance. They often use the "advance schedule option" with Ride Share to plan for her doctor appointment rides when their drivers can't fill the need. She's had to reschedule more doctor's appointments than she's made. The only ones she's made are the ones where the service could fill her time with their vehicles instead of the Ride Share.

This is not the case, you can "schedule" a pick-up which means a pickup request is generated at the date/time that you choose but it is not an actual reservation, it is the same as ordering on-demand, the nearest and next available Uber/Lyft driver has to accept the ride and pick you up.. Scheduling a pick-up does not change how the system works, it is designed to be an on-demand system..

Anecdotally, we used Uber to schedule an early morning pick-up a bit off the beaten path about 12 hours in advance and was assigned a driver within 30 minutes of submission (about 11 hours before pickup) so it does operate a bit different then just generating a request at your pickup time. They'll also promise to wait for you for up to 30 minutes which is unique to the scheduled pick-ups.

That's the way it used to work.

A knowledgeable poster described the current process. I didn't save the post. A driver is assigned, more correctly accepts the advance ride
. The driver is required to be on the clock a set time before the scheduled ride, I think an hour. The driver is assigned rides that will get him in the area of the pickup area.

I can only say how it is currently working, or not working as the case may be, for my mom. Not past but still

i guess the issue still is the drivers can still not decide to work that day. Plans change, etc

Does your Mom live in Orlando? Orlando appears to have a ton of drivers.
