I swear, I just can't believe some of the questions these people ask!!!

This morning on the Today Show, I heard Matt Lauer interview one of camera man/reporters who had been missing most of last week. They were discussing where he had been held, and what he overheard in regards to the torture of other victims. Matt Lauer asked him, "Can you tell me the type of sounds you heard?"

I just stopped what I was doing and thought to myself that my 11-year old daughter could probably ask more intelligent questions than this man....and he's getting paid BIG BUCKS to ask them.

It's rediculous some of the stuff some of them ask or say!!!

A few days ago after the ambush, a blonde reporter (I think NBC) asked a soldier on guard, sitting down what he thought of the ambush that killed several soldiers and the soldier had a blank stare, delayed his asnwer (as if in shock) and said he had not heard this info yet.

The reporter quickly ended his interview with him and chalked it up to how slowly news travels over there.

I was so disgusted!

I've always just hated most of the questions that these so called "journalists" ask on camera.

I swear if they were to put a microphone in my face and ask me something like that I would just let lose such a stream of words that I never use but that can't be broadcast, that all anyone would be able to hear is one long beep.

I can't help but believe that they are very sick individuals to ask a question like this. What type of response are they looking for? They truly want to know if there were screams of anguish or the sound of breaking bones? What is it they really want? In my opinion they are just video sadists.

I've never understood this. The "reporters" do this in peace time too. Asking distraught parents how they felt when they learned their child was murdered....it's just mean. It's cruel. But anything for ratings, I suppose.

All I can do to protest this is not watch those programs anymore, that's the only control I have. At the rate things are going I will have nothing left to watch except TV Land and Cartoon network :(

I found it ironic when the journalists were released the other day, reporters were in their faces. The journalists looked exhausted and didn't want to talk, but the other reporters kept pressing. One reporter said - We waited 5 hours for you to get here, you can spare us a few minutes.

Like they say - What goes around comes around.

This is one of my hot buttons! Reporters and stupid questions. I can't remember which reporter it is but there is one who is always asking Rumsfeld stupid questions and a few times I thought the SEC DEF was going to swat him...well, at least I wish he would! :)

I don't know that I would grant an interview if I were one of the families of POW or injured military people. The reporters are soooo insensitive. I realize it is their job to GET the story but please have some respect.

Okay, that's a watered down version of my two cents!!!

Signing off now.....

How about the reporter from Spain (I think) who asked General Franks after we had our first casualty from combat if this was going to be another Vietnam? I couldn't help myself, I ended up yelling at the TV "What are you a moron?"

I just got through watching the Pentagon Briefing...I wonder how some of these reporters even get past the door. Some of their questions are just ridiculous.

General, can you give us the time, date and highway you're going to use when you go into Bagdad? yea, let's just put up a big banner!!!!

Oh good grief! Watching war-time press conferences (with questions) is pointless. As for the Today Show, I've always found it to be lame.

Right before the war started, I remember a reporter asked Ari Fleishman "If the US does go to war with Iraq, what will that mean, militarily, to the US?" I can't remember what Ari said (the fact that he did answer was generous, imo), but the look on his face was priceless.

I would love to see a prime time tv program compiling the "most stupid reporter questions during Operation Iraqi Freedom" sort of like a 'bloopers' show...it would be so entertaining!!!!

One stupid question that struck me was after it was reported some civilians had been killed. The reporter asked the general if the victim's families would be compensated in some way. The general just answered "that is not for me to decide".

Just saw the parents of Jessica Lynch interviewed...one stupid reporter asked them if they were going to be happy to see their daughter. And then they brought up the other 8 people that were killed. The poor dad was overcome with emotion and couldn't continue the interview. Made me cry with them and made me so angry with that reporter. How dumb can they be? Are they that desperate for a story that they need to ask such stupid questions?

Okay...rant over.

One of my favorite skits from SNL was during the first Gulf War & all the reporters were asking "When & where exactly are we going in?", "What weaknesses in our defenses will there be?", etc.

I think a lot of the love loss between Bush 41 & the media was when the military was purposely giving them false information to mislead Saddam. They said "hey! You used us!" & the military shrugged, "yep, we did. :smooth:"

I get so upset with some of the reporters, when they ask stupid, insensitive questions, that I start talking out loud at them to the T.V. (like they can really hear me)! I can't believe how some of them conduct themselves under the "cover" of journalism.

Nativetxn, I'd like to "coin" one of the terms you used in your posts regarding some of our highly-paid journalists -- the term, "video sadists," I think suits a certain segment of them. Great description for those that are rude, insensitive, and non-thinking during their time of questioning people in very stressful situations.

I started yelling at the TV when I heard that! And now, come to find out, we are compensating families of victims? I thought this was a war:confused:
