Can you ask a seller to make a reservation during a resale contract purchase?

I'm currently in the middle of ROFR review for a resale contract, and I'm interested in making a reservation in July. Assuming all goes well, I'm somewhat doubtful that the contract would close and points available in time to make a reservation. Has anyone asked a seller to make a reservation for them during a resale contract purchase? And would this then complicate the closing because they would have an active reservation?

I believe you cannot have an active reservation on a contract during resale/ROFR process.

No, I believe all reservations are cancelled at the time of the sale.

I know FOR SURE, Disney will not transfer a contract if there are any reservations pending. Period. They either will be cancelled, or you will need to wait until they are done. I ran into this myself, even when I was doing a 'Gratuitous Transfer' to add my adult kids to the deed. I paid my money to a brokerage to handle it and went through all the paperwork and got it submitted to Disney and even had it sent to the Orange County Registrar's Office, and then Disney said, "Okay. Great. Call us back in 5 months when you are finished with this reservation you already have, and we will finish the transfer then."

On the other hand, I am absolutely shocked at how much capacity is still available at many many resorts for late July. Not all room types are available, so it depends on what you want. However, there is a moderately good selection at many different resorts FOR NOW. I guess a lot of people are waiting to see what happens.

If someone wants to add others to a deed via gratuitous transfer, but remain owners, the reservations stay.

We did that last Fall to get our adult children on the deeds with us.

Although you won't be able to use your points from the pending purchase, if you really want to go in July, check out renting. It's a very good possibility that you will be able to find some very good deals for summer vacations this year. Lots of points for rent out there at some very reasonable prices.
