Can you add the DDP to a cash DVC stay?

I have one night booked on cash because no studios are available on points and the other 4 nights booked on points. I am waitlisted to get that night on points but it is not looking too good at this point.

MS said that I could add the DDP to both my cash night and the stay on points. Is that correct? We did add it to our points stay last year but I thought I read somewhere that you COULD NOT do it for the DVC cash discounted nights. The person that I spoke to sounded fairly new to her job so I figured that I would ask the question here.

Also, she said that my reservations were all linked. Does this mean that I can check in the first night, get my keys and go? Will I have to checkout and checkin the next day for my points stay?

If I cannot add the DDP plan for the cash night, but do decide to add it for the rest of my stay on points... I am assuming that I will definately have to checkout and checkin the next day, but will I have to pack up and change rooms?

If anyone has any experience with this, I would really appreciate it.

Yes you can. I did it in July at SSR. I paid cash for our first night and used our points for the rest of our stay. I think MS linked the 2 ressies together to make it easier.

We did the same thing in April. Stayed Sat night on cash, rest on points. We were able to get DDP for all days, but did have to come back on Sun morning to check in again for points stay. They would only let me pay for 1 night ddp on Sat and paid for rest on Sun. Hope that helps.

Thank you both. Just wanted to make sure I had the right info.

dsnymomof4 - did you have to change rooms or just recheck in on Sunday? Also, did you get new keys for your points stay?

Just trying to make sure there is not a lot of inconvenience involved. I don't mind going back to checkin a second time, but would hope we wouldn't have to pack up and move, and potentially be out of our room for most of the day.

Call MS and have them link the 2 ressies together. That way you only have to checkin once. It can be done.

We did not have to move - our ressies were linked together. However, I did have to come back the next day. Honestly, I can't remember if we got new room keys - I don't think we did. Good luck!
