I'm glad somebody's thinking it through. For example, if he ever files for bankruptcy, gets (married or divorced), you will probably need to hire an attorney to protect your add on. It also could cause additonal "hassles" if you ever want to sell the contract - what if he doesn't?
Did that. ThanksYou might want to edit your thread title. You made a typo and put "dde" instead of deed. Many people will think you're inquiring about the Disney Dining Experience card and may not read your post if that discount doesn't interest them.
Just curious, if my sister and I (who live in different state) decided to buy a single allotment of points together, wouldn't we both be elligible for the deal - even though we have different addresses?Just wanted to add that unless you DBIL lives with you and has an ID proving that, he will not be eligible for the discount.
Good question! I don't exactly know how DVC handles owners who live at two different addresses. That might be a question for your guide. I do know that if you add BIL to your deed, you will have to go through a process that is not without cost.Rpsemont said:Just curious, if my sister and I (who live in different state) decided to buy a single allotment of points together, wouldn't we both be elligible for the deal - even though we have different addresses?
Thanks for passing that on! Good information to know. Our adult children are listed as associates on our contract, but I don't think they qualify for the AP discount, because they don't live with us.pluto109 said:add ons have to be the same owners name as your first contract..unless you change the deed before the add on.all names on the deed can get AP discount..upto six familes..just talked to my guide about this

My wife and I became DVC owners by adding on to my parents OKW account. I am named first on the deed my wife second and my father is third. All dues and payments come out of my checking account. We did this to take advantage of the add on incentive at SSR.Do I understand correctly that your parents had an OKW contract. Then, you and your wife did an add on to their contract with fewer than 150 points and were allowed to put different names on the add on contract as long as it had one name from original contract?
Yes, We added on 2 seperate 120 point SSR contracts so we could get the 200 bonus points. This was added on to their OKW contract. My father's name is listed 3rd after mine and DWs. We now have our own membership number and points are seperate from the original contract. The only "drawback" is that my father also has control of our points. Not that we are worried about that.BEACHCLUBVILLAS said:Do I understand correctly that your parents had an OKW contract. I've said it before, as long as you are an owner, you get the discount. I have been told that 4 is the most owners you can have but have not confirmed that. If so, you could get up to 32 AP/PAP discounts per year given the right circumstances.dianeschlicht said:Just wanted to add that unless you DBIL lives with you and has an ID proving that, he will not be eligible for the discount.
There are advantages to having them under one number.BEACHCLUBVILLAS said:Make it a 150 separate contract and you are golden. Assuming you have thought through all the stuff you've been warned about.I'd keep the same use year though to keep the blending of points as simple as possible.
There was nothing at all done to the original contract. The only paperwork that went through was that of the 2 add ons. We never were nor were we added to the original contract. (Off paper we did own 55 of their 70 point add on)Dean said:LIFERBABE, I don't think your are correct. I believe to be a new separate contract, one of the contracts must be 150 itself, not just the total purchase equal or exceed 150 points. In this case I bet they changed the ENTIRE contract to have all the people on it. Tramp68 can confirm or deny but I'm really doubtful that they added their names to the add ons without adding them to the original. Then the question would be whether they did a new deed for the existing contract with the new members on it.
The original plan was for them to quit-claim the 70 point add on contract to us so that we may do a 120 point add on. Also the names on that 70 point contract were going to be changed to just read DW and I.The father will now have 2 membership numbers and contracts. If Tramp68 ever wants to add-on more points smaller than 150, they will always have to carry the father on those additional small contracts too.
For add-ons of less than 150 points, the names on the original deed cannot be changed
