We are getting married at WDW in 2008 and part of our package includes 2 AP's which we won't receive until about three or four months after we are required to book our minimum night stay!

Will we be able to change our ressies later once we receive our AP's?? We also have AAA, so I am not sure if we should just go with that, knowing we can't do AAA and the AP discount. But, I don't want to end up with NO discount!!

Help! Thanks!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! What a special place to get married.

I strongly suggest you discuss this with Disney. I wouldn't have a clue if a wedding package is handled differently than a regular reservation.

In general, a current room reservation can be modified to the lower rate, IF the AP discount is "available" for the dates you need in that resort. It's pretty similar to just starting off booking a new reservation ---- if there's a room available for the dates you need, you can get the AP rate. If there's not a room available at the AP discount rate at the resort you've booked, you're out of luck. You can't assume that you can automatically get the AP discount on a current reservation.

One option is to see if the discount is available at a different resort for the dates you need, or modify the dates slightly. But, check it out with Disney to see if you will be able to do this with your package and if your package can be modified ....... sometimes packages complicate the situation.

Good luck!

edited to add: Did you post this on the Weddings board? There's bound to be people there who have tried to do this and would know more about weddings packages. Also, specifiy what type of package you're talking about ...... I assumed this was some type of wedding package booked through Disney. In the end, it's up to you to be sure you understand the terms of the package you book and not take someone's advice here, who may not know the latest rules about modifying a reservation.

Thanks so much! Yes, I am crazy all over the weddings board...for awhile now! They referred me here!

The rooms we are required to book--4 night minimum at a Disney resort aren't really part of the package, I just have to have a conf # before they'll book and confirm my date soo....

I wasn't aware that there wasn't a general AP discount for all resorts at all times, so that helps a lot...maybe I'll start with my AAA discount and talk to Disney about changing my ressies completely if my AP will work for a better discount. I won't be able to change my dates and I really don't want to have to change resorts!!!

Thanks again! Still undecided!!

Whenever there's a new AP discount announced, there's usually a rash of posts listing what people got and couldn't get. Sometimes it seems there's lots of availability in most resorts. Other times it seems there's difficulty getting certain resorts for certain weeks, so ............ there's just no way to know! (unfortunately for you, who have so many details to take care of).

Sounds like you're going to book the AAA discount through CRO, which will keep it simple. If you can take advantage of an AP rate, you'll have to go through CRO at that point anyway. Good luck!

Correct. You would be exchanging the AAA rate for the AP rate. Disney doesn't allow for double-dipping.

If you need an idea of what you might expect to pay, you could post a separate question, asking what type of AP discounts anyone got this year for your resort (or any you're considering) and your timeframe ........ knowing that there's no guarantee there will be similar discounts for next year. In years past, AP discounts at the deluxes were often 40%, but those days are long gone. I hven't followed the rates real closely this year, but it seems most AP discounts are a $$$ amount (ie, $75-$100 off per night for a deluxe).
