Can you add a guest name to a reservation after check-in?

We are already checked-in, but my SIL may be able to join us. Her name currently isn’t on our reservation. Does anyone know if I can go to the front desk and add her, even though we’ve already checked in and she isn’t on the original reservation?

My DD was there a few weeks ago and the front desk at SSR had said it would be too difficult to add her because it would require a cancel and rebook and I would have to call MS.

She just gave her friend a day pass Now, I don’t know if this was just a CM who didn’t know how, but she said it would not be possible.

We ran into this DVC vs. hotel issue also at Saratoga Springs.

We are a party of five and one of our kids did not make it on the reservation. Saratoga Springs could not add a fifth person to the reservation because occupancy for the 1BR was four on the hotel side. DVC allows five, but it had to be done on the DVC side.

Once we were checked in, the cast members in the lobby could not add a fifth person.

Thus, that lucky fifth person would have issues if using their magic band for early entry or to open the room door.

This happened a couple of years ago, but I would be leery if there is a fix for some of these hotel vs. DVC issues.

My advice is to get everyone on the reservation before you make it to the resort.

It's been a few years, in 2017, we tried to add my older son to our stay at BLT. We'd already checked in and were under the 2 bedroom capacity limits, but they couldn't add him after checkin. Called MS and asked at the desk. They also said we'd have to cancel and rebook. We didn't push it, but maybe there was some way to get it done? can always ask, hopefully they can. Did get him a guest pass, but were told he could not use what was then early magic hours.

Just to add…the issue for my DD was check in day of at the resort. I have added new guest to reservations via the website after doing online check in, but it was at least a few weeks in advance.

So, as long as the DVC website allows modification, you can do it. But, check in day at the hotel…or during your stay…is when we had trouble.

Just to follow up, we WERE able to add them to our reservation (there was only 2 of us on it, and the room occupancy was 4), and they showed up the day after we checked in. We had a bit of a hassle getting them a room key, but ultimately were able to resolve it and have them added.

Glad to hear it! I've always been able to add whoever I wanted to my reservations at the check in desk.

Most of the time I make reservations and have only me on them. Then, when I arrive, I'll add guests. We are not big planners and I haven't been since Feb of 2020, so haven't had to deal with new stuff.

there wouldn’t be a problem for early entry as long as he was with someone that was on the room reservation. For the key to the door you could of just got a card.
