Can we w?alk from POP to World of Sports

I posted this on the resort board but may get more answers here.DD and I are thinking of staying at Pop for Marathon weekend.We have to pick up our race packets fr night at WOS and were wondering if we could walk there from POP? i am trying to avoid renting a car,but am anticipating that getting to WOS may be a hassle.TIA

I'm not sure if you physically can, but I certainly wouldn't recommend walking anywhere between resorts and parks on Disney property except for the obvious ones that were put within walking distance of each other.

I ran WDW marathon in 2000 so my memory may be incorrect but there were buses going to WOS from POP. Whether those were special shuttle buses designated for the marathon registration or the regular WDW buses I cannot recall but there will be buses available regardless. My recollection is that it is not within a reasonable walking distance, particularily if you are trying to rest in order to run the marathon or the half.

Good luck. It is a fun, flat and fast course. Altho you will discover how small the parks actually are as very little of the race course in actually in the parks, rather on access roads on WDW property. Not a criticism ... just an observation. The CM do a great job of fan support. When I ran the parks were closed (race starts 6am) so the only spectators in the Parks were CM's.

Probably you can't. I recall reading recently that a Pop Guest who was just trying to walk out to the access road to take pictures of the Resort was stopped by the Guard at the entrance. Disney doesn't like Guests walking anywhere there's no money to be spent.

I would guess that runner26.2's recollection of buses going from Pop to WWoS is correct and specifically for the marathon - there are no bus stops at Pop regularly marked with this destination.

Thanks guys,I had never seen a bus going to WOS ,but it makes sense they would have them for Marathon weekend.Runner26.2,thanks for the info.I'm actually a little concerned that it's so flat considering I'm from hilly New England!

The only guaranteed bus to WWoS is from the Studios bus area from about 8am to 5pm.

Not sure about buses for Marathon but we have stayed on property for sports events and there were no special buses. Bus from MGM every 20 minutes to WWoS. Having the option of Magic Express we opted for no rental car this past June and it was fine. We used the bus or a taxi and had no problem and plan on doing the same thing in November.

For marathon weekend this year, there were TONS of buses that ran from each resort to the WOS--most were chartered buses, not Disney buses. DO NOT Attempt to walk--the traffic getting to the expo was horrendous. Don't drive either (I made that mistake). Just take the buses, and plan on a stop and go journey.
