We are going to purchase 10 day passes (we will be there for 15 days) but we may decide to upgrade to AP's once we see how things are going (if kids are enjoying the parks, if everyone stays well, crowds, weather etc.) ....can anyone tell me if we can so this right at the hotel desk or if we have to do it at a park window? If we pay the cost of the 10 day do we just have to pay the difference to get the AP's or is there a "fee". Thanks in advance.

No, AP's are not sold at the resorts. You have to go to a park or downtown disney guest services.

You can trade in your 10-day passes at Guest Relations or a ticket window at the theme parks, or at Guest Relations at Downtown Disney. All you will pay is the difference between what you paid for the 10-day pass and the price of a new AP.

Check out the undercover tourist 14 day ultimate park hopper. At 285 it is less expensive than an annual pass. It is about the same price as a 10 day pass- but with the right to use 14 full days of the water parks, PI etc. Seems like a very good deal

The 14-day and 21-day Ultimate tickets from Undercover Tourist are available only to folks from the U.K. and Ireland.

WEll, thanks anyway...we are from NY....not Ireland....DARN!!! Hee hee

Remember with the AP you can buy the Disney Dining Experience card which saves 20% on nearly all meals, and some other perks.

Everyone here is so nice!! Hubby has an AP (he had another trip and he wanted the "perks") We got a code for the hotel so that is all taken care of. We are going down this time (first time) with my brother and sister in law and kids. They are meeting us there for part of the trip and we are unsure how many days we are going to get into the park.........hence the dilema....there is such a big difference between the 10 day and the ap.........I wish there was a 14 day..........oh well.

I think if you buy a 10 day and decide to upgrade to an AP while you're there you can.
Here's some info I found on http://allearsnet.com/pl/ticket.htm#credpass

Disney allows UPGRADING only within the first 7 days of using the ticket for PH/PHP tickets, or the first 14 days for MYW tickets. After the seventh/fourteenth day, they will not upgrade it but they will apply the DOLLAR CREDIT of any unused major park admissions towards the purchase price of the new ticket.

UPGRADING is the act of applying the entire original purchase price towards the new MYW ticket or AP/PAP. DOLLAR CREDIT is the act of applying the current dollar value (not the entire purchase price) of the unused major park admissions on the ticket towards the new one. Unused plus options carry no dollar value.

The reason why I point this difference out is that many people have asked a Guest Relations CM to upgrade their park ticket to another ticket after that 7 or 14 day window has gone and have been told that they can't (which is correct in Disneyspeak). What they aren't always told unless they know enough to ask is that they can apply the dollar credit of the remaining unused major park days towards a new ticket/AP/PAP at any time. So the bottom line is that you can always trade that old ticket in at any time.

UPGRADES

Disney allows you to UPGRADE most park tickets to a longer Magic Your Way ticket, an Annual Pass (AP) or a Premium Annual Pass (PAP) within 7 days of the first use of the ticket for old PH & PHPs, or the first 14 days for MYW tickets. They will take the entire price of the ticket you started using (assuming you purchased that ticket from Disney) and deduct it from the cost of the new ticket. The starting date of an AP/PAP will be back dated to the date you first used any admission off the old ticket. Disney will not allow you to upgrade certain promotional tickets not available to the general public.
