Hi Everyone,

We will be staying at the Beach Club Villas in May. We are thinking of adding on... but not sure where. Can you take tours of the other DVC properties? Will they let you look in an unoccupied room? If yes, how do we go about doing that?

Thanks so much for your help! :goodvibes

There's an open model over at the Boardwalk (not too far from Atlantic club where "Welcome Home Wednesday" is held). You can look at models at Saratoga Springs for Animal Kingdom Villas and Bay Lake Towers from 5-7 p.m. (and probably other times), without having to do the sales pitch. You can view the outsides of any resort properties, and you can ask at the desk about seeing a room. I've read that there's a villa to view at BLT, but not sure about that.
Using the DVC planner, and the photos online, you can get a pretty good idea about what they're all like, without spending the touring time while you're at WDW. (How much time do you really spend in the unit anyway -- of course I know that what they look like does make a difference -- I've been working on staying at least in a studio at each propery to get a feel for it, which is being a fun project).

You can go to the front desk at any of the DVC resorts and ask if they would allow you to see a villa. Usually, if they have an unoccupied and cleaned villa, they will be happy to allow this. Otherwise, as noted above, you can see the SSR/AKV/BLT models at the sales center and a BWV model is available to see over near Jellyrolls on the Boardwalk.

Enjoy! :)

There are models open at AKV Kidani and BLT from 2 to 4 PM. I believe it's every day.

We did just as Doc says in his post this past May. We went over to the Villas at the Wilderness Lodge and a desk CM took us to an unoccupied room for a look see. She then took us on a tour around the property ending at the pool-side bar. No sales pitch whatsoever. Don't know if this is SOP but was nice just the same.

We did this right after we first bought in. We went to each of the properties, walked around on our own for awhile and then asked to see a unit. Almost all were able to accomodate. At Vero Beach, they even let us wander around the Beach Cottage for a bit. Boy, did we have visions of great family reunions in that location!

Enjoy checking out all the places. We've stayed in 5 so far and I'm looking forward to checking out the rest over the next few years.

last December the model units at SSR had to be viewed by appointment - on previous visits you could just wander in at the open times. Might have changed though.

At the SSR sales center, the AKV and BLT models are open for member self-tours from 5-7 each evening. I think you would still need to arrange for a tour of the SSR models

The BLT model (at BLT) is open to DVC members from 2- 4pm (I think that's the right timeframe) - be sure to have your blue DVC membership card.

The BWV models are open every afternoon.

At the other resorts (OKW, VWL, BCV) you will need to ask at the front desk since there are no longer any models available.

A few weeks ago, I walked over from Downtown Disney to the model center at SSR. I was surprised that it wasn't open for the usual 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. member open house.

I asked. They told me they no longer do that.

Instead, DVC members who want to see models without an appointment are now directed to BLT and AKV Kidani between 2:00 and 4:00 p.m.

Presumably, the model center at SSR still contains the models of BLT and AKV Kidani. But, unless things change again, they're now shown only by appointment.

The SSR model center hasn't had an SSR model for years.

Since they have "live" version of AKV and BLT now I wonder if they are preparing for Hawaii.

Keep in mind that, at WDW in Florida, they don't even have a model of the Villas at Disney's Grand Californian.

As far as I know, the model center at SSR still has AKV and BLT model rooms for people who have appointments at the DVC Sales Center.

It will be interesting to see how, where, and when DVC sells Disney's Aulani. I'm sure there will be a sales center at Ko Olina itself. It remains to be seen if Disney will build models at WDW, Disneyland, one or both of the Doorway to Dreams stores, or in Asian locations such as Tokyo.
