Can we share any meals at these restaurants?

On our last trip (was also our first trip) we had the dining plan. The dining plan was fine but we ended up eating too much food and was never hungry for the great snacks that everyone talks about getting at Disney World.

This trip we are going to pay OOP. We are doing this to try and save money, eat smaller meals, and be able to try the wonderful desserts, snacks, and drinks. We were hoping to be able to share meals and snacks in order to accomplish this.

Has anyone ever shared meals at the following restaurants (CS & TS) and if so, what did you get that was big enough to be shared? Do most restaurants at DW allow you to share meals?

* Be Our Guest - Lunch
* Sunshine Seasons
* Electric Umbrella
* The Plaza Restaurant
* 50's Prime Time
* Sleepy Hollow
* Flame Tree BBQ
* Tutto Italia
* Beaches and Cream
* The Wave

Do most restaurants at DW allow you to share meals?
In general, yes, you can share at most locations when paying OOP. You cannot "share" (i.e., pay for one meal and feed more than one person) at buffets (e.g., Chef Mickey), all-you-care-to-eat/family style meals (e.g., 'Ohana), dinner shows (e.g., HDDR), fixed priced meals (e.g., CRT), or dining packages (e.g., Fantasmic dining package). Same goes for Counter Service; you can share meals.

I believe Tutto Italia is run by the same people as Via Napoli, so I'd not count on anything there. Restaurants run by third-parties can be strict.

The QS selections (BOG, SS, Electric Umbrella, Sleepy Hollow, FTBBQ) you can absolutely share.

The other places you can generally share, save for the buffet breakfast at The Wave.

I know VN does not allow sharing when using the DDP, but I've shared entrees (and appetizers and desserts) at VN when paying OOP.

I'm a big eater, and I easily could have shared the fried chicken at 50's Prime Time with someone else. It was HUGE.

The ribs and chicken combo at Flame Tree is also a good choice for sharing.

* Be Our Guest - Lunch the braised pork is a big portion and could easily be shared, especially if you get a cup of soup and a grey stuff cupcake.
* Sunshine Seasons - I've shared the sandwiches here and added a dessert for each of us. Plenty of food for 2.
* Flame Tree BBQ - The chicken and ribs combo platter is HUGE.
* Beaches and Cream - I have only had ice cream and shakes here and always share. Of course, you could get some friends and dig in to the Kitchen Sink!
* The Wave -Don't really remember any entree that would be a great one to share, but a few apps between 2 people would save money. I love the food here and would be happy with an app dinner.

Another option is to look at the kids menu.

While I would never actually suggest anyone eat at Electric Umbrella (when you have the rest of Epcot available to you), I seem to end up there often and just eat a kids meal there (it's pretty much the same burger as the grownups get).

My husband and I almost always share. At BOG lunch we share the beef sandwich and fries and get our own drink and cupcake. At The Plaza we split the Club sandwich and fries with our own drinks. At 50's we split the fried chicken with our own drinks. At B&C we split a burger and fries then I get a No Way Jose! The portions are very big and sharing helps keep me from overeating- and let's me have room for dessert (the important stuff)

We share everything, every time. Even snacks. I'm a WLS patient and a Disney size "snack" or kids meal is too much for me. We don't do buffets and we always pay OOP. No one ever bats an eye at us sharing, QS or TS.

More than half the places listed are counter service. You can do anything you want with a counter service meal.

As for the others, as long as you are not on a dining plan and it's not a buffet/AYCE/fixed price/dinner show, you are good to go as far as sharing.

A big :thanks: to everyone who responded. Your information has been very helpful. I knew that we couldn't share on buffets and certain other meals so I had left those off my list. :) I'm looking forward to a great trip and getting to try more yummy Disney food!

I'm soo glad I found this thread. I was wondering myself what places my husband and I could share. Mostly sharing would be to save money but also because I doubt we could eat as much food as some of these places have a rep for in regards to their portion sizes. Thanks for all the good information :)

So you aren't allowed to share when on the DDP and eating at table service?
You can share at table service restaurants where you order from a menu when using the dining plan with the exception of Via Napoli. They are strict about dining plan use and will not let you use 1 credit to feed 2 or more people. For your entree at Via Napoli you can order the individual sized pizza, but cannot combine credits for a larger pizza or you can order a non-pizza entree. There have been a couple of posts that dining plan users could not use 1 credit for 2 people at Tutto Italia which is owned by the same company.

In post #2 figment_jii listed the restaurants/meals where you cannot share and everyone will be charged a credit or pay out of pocket.

At 50's Prime Time, my DD and I shared the fried chicken. They actually split it and brought us each our own plate, with our own side dishes (not sure if they were a smaller portion, but it was plenty for us!).

At BOG we shared breakfast. I wasn't feeling well that morning, so only took a couple bites. They bring you a plate of pastries plus a breakfast - it's a lot of food.

We share at CS places all the time. Most portions are too big!

At QS locations you can share, TS most will let you as long as you are not on the DDP, But do tip accordingly for the number of people at the table.

In April will be taking our first trip to the world since having WLS. Did you ever contact a TS restaurant regarding your dietary restrictions so you could order a child menu item? Since DH and I have different tastes I was thinking of doing this, especially at Coral Reef where he would want sea food and me a steak.

Nope. I've never told anyone about my surgery, and they let us split everything anyway. Or order from the child's menu. It has never been an issue. :)

18yo DD and I tend to share all the time. BOG lunch we did exactly what someone above mentioned, each had a soup, shared the roast pork and each had a cupcake and soda. Still too much food! Plaza entrees are easily shareable, we've even just got two appetizers at Sci Fi and shared. Yak & Yeti TS and QS both are easily shareable.
