Can We Ride the Boat 1st? A first timer's Jan 2015 PTR - link to TR

shockingly, I've changed something else :rotfl2:

For our final morning, I dropped my Kona ADR and added 1900 Park Fare at 8. I decided we might as well do another character breakfast if we are going to do TS. Time to watch Alice in Wonderland!

We really enjoyed the breakfast at 1900 Park Fare on our honeymoon! The characters were fun and it was one of the better breakfast buffets we have - you definitely have to try the strawberry soup if that sounds like something you'd like!

Oh I'll for sure be trying it :thumbsup2

Ohhhh, I've been thinking about the Alice breakfast, too! You'll have to tell me if you like it. :)

I'm getting really excited about this addition!

Disney Jr Live on tour tomorrow night :yay:

- quick update, I joined a memory maker share through the DIS Jan FB page and am so excited! I wasn't sold on the $150 for it but at $35ish it's a great bonus!

- I also spent some time on Ebay ordering all of the DVDs I want to watch with G before we go, so those should be trickling in. He has seen many of them but we don't own all of them. (Snow White, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Beauty and the Beast, Alice in Wonderland and Winnie the Pooh)

We had a super fun evening yesterday, traveling to Little Rock to see Disney Jr Live.

Jon picked Grant up early from school while I was at home with the baby waiting for the babysitter. We hadn't told G what we were doing, just that it was a surprise (I had my doubts that Jon would actually be able to get off of work early or that I'd be able to find a sitter). When they got home, I told G "we are going to go see Jake and the Neverland Pirates in person!". Cue huge tears and "I don't want to do that" .... :confused3 .... so I was a little thrown but then I asked if he'd like to see what it was on the computer. After a quick youtube viewing, we were good - so it seems like our kid is not one for surprises :lmao:

Meltdown over, we headed to LR (about 2.5 hours), had dinner and headed into the show. I had purchased cheap Jake figures from Target hoping to avoid buying much, but the light up toys had him entranced so I broke down and got one that has Mickey on it and will be going as a light up toy for a trip as well!

G enjoyed the Sophia part but ADORED the pirate part (I was surprised that there was that much of a difference in his reaction as he typically will watch Sophia as happily as Jake). He was singing along and cheering, which is not like him so that was great! He said it was awesome. It was about an hour and a half and I thought it was pretty well done. Here are some bad phone pics

You will LOVE the MM share. It was the best thing we did on our trip.

Glad things worked out and your son liked Disney Jr Live. We went several months ago and our kids also seemed to react more to the Jake part as well - so maybe that storyline just is more appealing to kids or that they are more comfortable with the show in general by that point :confused3

It is tough to not get a light up toy - we wound up with a Jake sword and Sofia amulet.

We did a memory maker share for our last trip and it worked great. Downloading does become a little more time consuming though as everyone's pictures are there. Definitely makes it a better value though

Disney jr looks so fun and DS looks like he was having a great time!

glad you found a MM share. i'm thinking they are making it way more worth it now. i'm just hoping we see more photographers then last trip. don't forget to ask for magic shots. they are so fun!

Looks like he really enjoyed the Disney Jr show ... yay!

And yay on getting the MM share ... I agree that I don't know that it's worth $150, but sharing is a good way to get the costs down.

Aww, nice pics of the Disney Jr. show! And good deal on the MM share. It definitely sounds worth it.

And on the day discounts come out - fun times!

So I went through all of the menus and tried pricing out our meals with tax and tip and it comes in under the dining plan by a couple of hundred dollars and considering we won't probably eat desserts, we will drink a bit of booze and we'd have to do a couple of meals out of pocket, I don't think S/P/D is for us.

So I'm looking at room only - which stinks b/c POFQ is only at 15%. I looked into switching to POR but there are no standard rooms open - so I'm thinking of staying put and just going with the 15% off at POFQ - thoughts?

***Update***

Never Mind the above -

I called (no hold time -ummm weird) and priced P/S/D switching over to POR (Garden View was the lowest level open) and it saved us quite a bit so I went ahead and did that!

Now to look up more info on POR and the dining plan (yay snacks?!)

oh my gosh! resort change, saving money and double digits??? this is an exciting day!!

you'll love POR! i'd stay there again in a heartbeat. it's so pretty and peaceful--great choice!

Ok - so now that we are on the DDP I have dropped some TS meals
No longer are we eating at :

Coral Reef
50s PT
Chefs De France

(I had already decided to drop Chefs before adding DDP but don't think I'd mentioned it here)

I did add the Pirates and Pals Fireworks Voyage for the last night of the trip - very excited about this and hoping like heck for good weather!

Yes, I'm excited - I'm glad I just went ahead and committed to the dining plan now - I was trying to figure out if it was a good deal or not and spending way too much time pricing all our meals out - this is just less stress. We will be paying for BOG out of pocket but everything else is covered.

My only concern about POR is the size, I'll probably do a fax request for a room location and cross my fingers!

We loved our recent POR trip in September. It is a big resort, but is nicely laid out so it isn't bad to deal with. Take a look at the maps and info at www.portorleans.org and you can get a feel for what to request. Garden view can either be in the Mansions or Alligator Bayou, but either way the rooms are the same size. You can figure out which locations will fit your preferences and make an informed request.

The resort does have four bus stops, but they aren't very far apart and the bus goes around the outside perimeter of the resort so you can cut distance by walking through the middle. The buses tend to follow the same route going and returning from the same park, so for a round trip you will likely hit all of the stops, but just one time each. Overall we planned on about 10 min for the bus loop and it sometimes was quicker than that.

Congratulations on the dining plan too. We absolutely love having it for our trips. :)
