Just wondering for all you who have every left the Disney Magic at the port in Barcelona and gone directly to the airport. We can hopefully disembark at 7 am. in Barcelona and there is a great 10:30 am flight back home... if we arranged for a private transport, do you think we can make it to the Barcelona airport in time? Thanks in advance!

Very very tight, 7 am is the very first time you could get off in Barcelona. Is it a weekday or weekend, weekdays you will hit rush hour there. It takes about 40 minutes to get there and then you have to find check in, queue, and then go through security, I think international flights they suggest two hours.

So very tight, clock watching, not recommended, but possible, I myself wouldn't book it. But it's up to you.

We've been on 3 Med cruises from Barcelona, and have always had a 10:30am flight home. We normally get off the ship as soon as disembarkation starts and use private transfer to the airport. The airport is about a 20 minute drive. Getting to the airport on time has never been an issue before, the only problem we ran in to was the check in staff at Barcelona airport. They were painfully slow. That's why we're only bringing carry on for our Med cruise this year, that way we can just head straight to security.

That doesn't sound like fun to me. Is the flight just as good the next day? Why not stay a night?

We made a 10:30 flight from Barcelona last month on the Vista with no problem. We carried off our own luggage and hopped in a taxi. We had plenty of time. But I would have a back-up plan in case there are any issues. Make sure you get in the correct line when you get to the airport. There were two lines, one if you had your boarding pass and just needed to drop your bags; and another line for full service. The lines didn't seem to be well marked, and some people didn't need to be standing in the full service line.

Thanks everyone for your insights! We unfortunately can't stay another day-- we arrive in Barcelona on Saturday and my son's first day of High School is Monday! I like the idea of keeping our luggage with us and just walking off the ship, we've never done that! I speak Spanish, so hopefully we won't get into the wrong line at the airport! I wonder if there is there any way to print out boarding passes on board??? You guys are great... thanks!! Tresha

You can go to the Internet lounge to print off. It's at the end of the Promenade lounge deck 3. There is a fee.

Okay... so we can print off our boarding passes... and we can carry off our luggage (that means normal sized suit cases, not carry on) and pre-arrange a pick up or find a taxi, and go to the airport and find the line that all you have to do is check your bags... then clear security....??? The 10:30 flight sounds do-able! Thanks! Tresha

Another thought, I know that on the Port Canaveral port of entry... normal sized suitcases have to go down below the night before-- is that so there isn't a traffic jam with everyone trying to get off the ship? I guess my question for the Barcelona port... are we REQUIRED to send our normal sized suitcases to the giant check out area at the port-- or can we just walk off the ship with them??? I'm a tad confused... thanks!

You can take them off over the bridge from deck 3, you will go down an escalator or elevator far end. The luggage goes off very fast by DCL, it's a good terminal. Doing it yourself may save a minute or two, looking for the bags, but that's in, and a hernia!

You of course have to get to the atrium with your suitcases and the elevators will be busy.
