Not to mention, our party size will be 14. :confused3 What are your thoughts? Do parties this size usually have to wait longer? What would be our best bet to get to MK the quickest? We're coming from SSR, what time do the buses start running?

Personally, I think rope drop is more important than breakfast, but the kids might feel differently. I wouldn't mind enjoying breakfast, but our ADR is on12/22, sure to be one of the busiest days of the year.

Please help, and TIA!

I think your chances of making RD are pretty good. Since you have such an early ADR, I don't think you will have to wait long ever with your large group - the restaurant won't be full yet, so they should have an easy time seating you at 7:10.

The buses start running at 6:30am, so I would be at that SSR bus stop then. I would take the bus for MK. They will drop you off close to the entrance and from there it is about a 10 minute walk to the CR. Then you can walk back to MK when you finish breakfast.

If you take 75 minutes at breakfast, you could still easily make RD, but you might miss the show. If you want to be sure to catch the show, I would be walking out of the restaurant at 8:15.

Here's a map created by the DIS board user Robo showing the walking path between MK and CR:

Looking at that map the walkway looks like it is REALLY long! Is the walkway well marked so we won't get lost? We're walking from MK to CM on Nov. 29
The walkway from the Magic Kingdom to the Contemporary is very well marked and there is no way you can not get lost.

I have a similar situation, 7:15am at CM. Is the monorail running that early? I was counting on taking the bus to MK and riding the monorail to CM and back.

With a 7:10 am adr, I would take a taxi. Buses begin running as early as 6:15 but they are infrequent and unpredictable that early in the morning. Some bus drivers will take you directly to your destination in the early morning, but there is no guarantee. You very well may have to go to MK and then take the monorail to the Contemporary. Relying on Disney transportation in the very early morning is a gamble - sometimes we've had no problems - other times we've been late for early morning adrs even when we've been out at the bus stop an hour before our adr. We tend to take a taxi for any resort breakfast adrs 7:30 am or earlier.

And to the OP, with a 7:10 am adr you should make it for rope drop without any problems. We love CM for breakfast - we've been the past 4 years - our adrs have been between 7:15 & 7:30 am and we've always made it for rope drop without any problems.

it will take you longer to take the monorail than walk to the CR

Where the bus drops you you can see the CR. It is a very short walk. :)

I think you will be fine....I agree, get to CM at 7 and you should be seated rather quickly.....

Thanks for everyone's suggestions. At first look of the map, I thought it seemed long too, but if you all say it's fine, I'm sure it is. I hadn't thought about the fact that the ADR is really early...shouldn't be a packed house quite yet. Hopefully we will be able to walk right in.

I'm still not sure about how we'll to CR that early. I've heard so many conflicting reports about when/how the buses run in the AM. I hadn't really considered a taxi since there are 14 of us.

Overall, I'm very glad to hear everyone thinks we'll make it for RD. Whew! :yay:

The distance from CR to the MK Bus Station is about the same as from the MK Bus Station to the MK turnstiles. And walking is much faster than monorail, as monorail will stop at TTC, Poly and GF before getting to MK.

I didn't notice that until you mentioned it. It may seem like along walk on the map, but it's not much further than where the bus would drop you off anyhow. Thanks!

The walk takes no more than 10 minutes. We usually make it in closer to 5. You will arrive much faster by walking than by using the monorail.

And like everyone else said, with a 7:10 reservation, you should easily make it to the park in time for rope drop.

I think getting to Cheif Mickey's is much more of a concern than getting to the MK. I would ask at the check in desk the night before what is your best choice of disney transportation to get to CM by 7:00. Mention you have 14 people. More that one family has been offered a van to get them there on time. If not, ask to be sure a bus will be there that will get you there on time.

AT CM, ask for your ticket early in the meal and try to limit the # of tickets in the party if possible. If you are not interested in pictures, tell them early on to prevent them spending time at your table with them.

Try not to stress and enjoy your meal! We did CM with a large group once and it DID take a while but it was a lot of fun!
