Can we get an adult meal at kid meal credit?

Hi! We have never done the DDP before and I was looking at counter service places to eat at Epcot and noticed in Morocco they offer lamb meals but the kids meals do not include lamb. My 7 year old is obsessed with eating lamb and I didn't know if there are ddp gods that will substitute the chicken nuggets there with lamb. If not I guess we will just have to pay oop for her.

TIA!

The Schwarma platter is plenty big enough to share. I would wait and see if you even need another. You could always go back and order a second if you need it.

It's Disney's written rule that if the restaurant has a children's menu, the children order from it. (The DIS discussions follow this rule.)

But the platter is huge and has plenty to share, if one or more of the adults cares to get one.

Sorry, but no way is that going to happen there. First of all it clearly states in the DDP brochure that where a kids menu is listed, kids must order off the kids menu. In the second place, Tangeriene Cafe is not owned by Disney. Third party restaurants are really strict with the DDP. They get reimbursed by Disney for accepting their DDPs, but Disney is very strict on their reimbursements. No way could the restaurant get even close to being reimbursed the price of an adult platter from using a kids credit.

You could either buy him the platter out of pocket or you could share yours with him. As another poster said those platters are big. I got one when I was there in Sept and noticed that while they are not as large as they were say two years ago, they are still pretty big. You should still have enough to share.

Thanks! I think we will share one. This whole ddp stuff is new to us and just didn't know how far the pixie dust flies sometimes! LOL! :) I can't wait to try the food there and neither can she! :)

I fear you are going to be disappointed in your trip. Disney is first and foremost a business. It is a publically traded company and company officers have a fiduciary responsibility to share holders to maximize their ownership interest.
They are not there to make people happy, but to make money. Pixie Dust is mainly in peoples minds.
To even think to ask if you could order an adult meal paying only the child's price is mind boggling. I would hate to see you disappointed in your hard earned vacation. Just keep in mind it is not all magic.
Good Luck

The four of us shared two platters with some extra pita bread ordered. It was SO good. As good as anything I ate in Turkey. Great, now I'm craving it. :lmao:

Your over-exaggeration made me laugh. It's not mind boggling for those that have never done the DDP before, which is why the OP asked her honest question. It's especially not mind boggling because some CS places do allow a child's credit for the same meal that adults can order, such as Casey's. (Those savvy to the DDP understand the reasoning behind that, but to others it could make credit use less clear.)

OP, you should be totally fine with sharing a platter & only having to use one adult credit for it. You might want to use an extra snack credit to supplement your meal, but that will be easy & fun to do in Epcot. Have a great trip!!!

The Disney owned restaurants, both CS and TS, are more liberal in their interpretation of the DDP so they often allow reasonable modifications (e.g. a bottle of water instead of dessert at many CS places, additional non-alcoholic beverage choices at some TS venues).

The third party places (such as the Moroccan restaurants) are far more strict because they are reimbursed by Disney according to the rules of the plan. It is possible that third party CS venues will look at the number of Adults/Children listed for your DDP and limit you to that number of Adult and Children's meals. As others have said, however, you can order the adult entree at Tangierine Cafe and share with your child.
