Our departing flight  leaves at 3:25pm so I'm guessing that ME will be picking us up by 12:30pm. EMH are at AK that morning so I was thinking it might be nice to have a last bit of Disney fun before we get back to reality. We are first-timers, staying at POP, so I have no clue if, time-wise, this is realistic or not. :confused3 Any advice from the pros...?

If we have to leave by that time, I usually do no more than check out and either do a character breakfast or visit Downtown Disney for a last shopping spree. (Typically, we've stayed out late the last night, so we sleep in a bit.)

If you're quick packers and early birds, you may be able to get a few attractions at AK, but it would be hectic. You have to decide what you can handle that morning and then make sure you leave AK by 11:30 at the latest. Now that I think of it, even on non-EMH days, I'm leaving the park by 11:30 for my break. :confused3

I think you can do it!!! Especially if you are completely packed the night before and all you have to do is check out. You can go for EMH in the morning and leave the park by 11:30am so you can make your bus. Piece of cake!

If you are all packed the night before it's possible. Just be sure to leave enough time to transport from AK to POP. That would be what would make me the most nervous. I would be too stressed that something would happen to delay us from getting a bus.

I agree that you can do this. Check your bags before you leave for the AK. This way you won't have to go back to your room. Eat something before leaving the AK or leave a little earlier to eat at POP before ME picks you up.
Keep in mind that normal check out is 11am so it would be easier if you vacated the room before heading out.

Sure you do. If you are flying one of the 'participating' airlines, then you can check in at the DME desk before you start your day. They open at 6 a.m.! That way you have your boarding passes, and your luggage has gone to the airport. Then head off to AK for a quick trip. It its emh then you get in at 8, tour until 11ish, head back to your resort and hop on your bus. Shouldn't be a huge issue. If you aren't using one of those airlines, just leave your bags with the bell service people at Pop. But, you will need to be there to get your bags from them about 20 minutes before the bus is due to pick you up. So adjust appropriatly.

Sometimes we will head to a park for a few hours or we have a nice relaxing breakfast someplace and head to DTD to pick up those things we forgot to buy.

Of course you can!

What I have done in the same situation is take a cab from the park back to the hotel the final time. This way, you can stay in the park as late as possible and then don't have to wait for a bus. If you have to be ready for ME for, say, 12:40, you can easily leave the park at noon and get there if you take a cab. That gives you three extra hours of magic!

Do it, I do it every time!

Thanks everyone!! It sounds like as long as we're organized to go we can do it!!! I'm so excited! Only 7 days until we go! Thanks again!

My BF is an anxious traveler who always wants to leave super early for flights. To put it in perspective, I'm always at the airport at least an hour before my flight, and if I left when he wanted to, I'd be there three hours early. :)

Last year, we had a flight out of Orlando at around 4PM and I wanted to go to a park that morning. He thought that was a terrible idea and that we would be late for our flight. We got up that morning around 10, went to Downtown Disney, hung around through and after lunch, then went to the airport... and got there three hours early!

He apologized several times for not letting me go to a park that morning. I expect to have the same discussion when we go next week, despite the fact that our flight is at 5PM. ;)

At any rate, I wanted to pass that along because we would have had plenty of time to go to a park, do some rides, have lunch there, then head to the airport.

:wizard: my husband is the exact same way .. wants to be at the airport early.. we do have to board first since we have a small child.. but still you do have plenty of time.
