Can we check in several days late on an RCI exchange?

We're trying to book an RCI exchange for DD and her husband, and of course that means a Friday, Saturday or Sunday checkin. However, they don't want to check in until Wednesday. I'm pretty sure that when they call DVC to get the Disney confirmation number and give their names that they can notify DVC they won't arrive until the Wednesday, but I hope some of you have experience with that! They can do online checkin, of course, but I'm not sure whether the reservation would be canceled if they don't use their MBs to open the door within the first 24 hours or so of the reservation starting.

Are they exchanging into DVC or out to elsewhere?

Yes. I just did this. I had a reservation that went Saturday-Saturday. I checked in on line but called and told them I would not actually be arriving until Monday. We were at Universal for a couple of days. On the reverse, I have left early too without a problem. The only bad thing is that you still have to use the full amount of points whether you are there the week or one day.

Thanks - I knew we’d use the full amount of TPUs (sigh) but love helping out a wonderful DD and DSIL! I’m glad to be able to confirm they can do what they want to do in terms of time off work. They had booked the Dolphin for 4 nights for about $1600! This will cost them about $500.

As long as you notify them that you will be arriving late, it is not an issue and they will not consider it a no show!

Yes just call DVC and inform them that they are arriving late and they are good to go.

Have in mind, arriving late still means they need to checkout at the original checkout date.
