Can we book 2 AP rooms at different resorts? One for us, one for inlaws

OK, I hope this isn't too confusing. I have an room at POR at AP rate from 5/14-5/21. The inlaws want to stay offsite because they don't want to pay that much to stay at POR. AP is under DH's name, can he reserve them a room at a value resort for the same time period we will be there. I know he would have to check them in or be there when they check in. I just don't know if the AP rate could be applied if DH is not staying there. Anyone know?

I don't think so. I don't think they will let you book 2 different resorts at the same time. If the dates were different yes. Or you book 2 rooms at your resort.

Yes, you can. We've done is twice before - first time we stayed at BWI and our friends stayed at ASSp. The next year we were at Poly and our friends were at CS (we have 5 in our family and they have 4, so we had to stay at a deluxe).

Thanks. Did you have to put the ressie in your name and them as a guest? Just curious as how to book this if they decide to stay on site.

I told the CM that it was a room for friends and it was put in their name. We were told we had to be there when they checked in, but they got there early and were already checked in before we could get there. You still should plan to be there, though, just in case.

Oh, and ever since then I've gotten about 3 or 4 postcards at MY address in THEIR name! I get so excited, and then I see I can't use it!

We've done this also and put the room in our family's name and then been there at check in to show the AP or bring it by the same day.

My BIL has the AP -- can I book rooms for him and us using his AP discount? I'm the "travel agent" in the family.

The ressie does NOT have to be in the AP holder's name. The AP holder can just be one of the folks on the ressie. My name is on my sister's ressie because I'm an AP holder and she is not. I'll be there when she checks in, but we are at the BWV. We are a family of 5 AP holder's who rarely use the resort discount, so try to use it for others when we can. My daughter (an AP holder) has a discounted Pop room the night before she moves to the BWV with us.

Thanks everyone. The inlaws decided to stay at POR. I just called and applied the discount to their ressie. Now I am confused about the AP holders name being on the ressie. I hope we don't have a problem. Our ressie is under DH's name with myself, kids and my parents as the guests (we have 2 rooms reserved). Inlaws ressie in under FIL's name (which is the same as DH's anyway). Should we have put their room on our ressie by adding a 3rd room?
