Can this waitlist request work?

Currently have a one bedroom booked for a Sunday night in February at 30 points. I now need to pick up Saturday night too but am running low on points. So I planned to cancel the Sunday at Boardwalk and instead book two nights at Saratoga in a studio. With this change, I would need to purchase 4 one time use points from DVC. Simple enough.

Now my kids tell me they would like to stay at Wilderness lodge instead for the two nights in a studio and I wouldn’t mind staying there too. If I book the Saratoga room now to secure the two nights somewhere and buy the one time use points to do it, can I waitlist the Wilderness lodge room for the same two nights (Saturday currently unavailable) - if I will need to purchase a few additional one time use points to cover Wilderness Lodge stay vs the Saratoga stay?

No, you can't purchase one time points to use on a waitlist. They would have to be already in your account.

Thanks! So If I need 4 points to do the Saratoga reservation and would need 6(2 more) to do the Wilderness Lodge room, can I purchase 6 up front for the Saratoga reservation and just have those other 2 points sit around in my account so I can waitlist then in hopes Wilderness Lodge opens up?

No you would have to add another night somewhere to quire the needed points. I had to do this once. Add on another night that I didn't need so I could waitlist and have enough points. It cost me 2 extra points that I didn't use in my case as the waitlist came through but i got what I wanted it would cost you a few more than 2 points though. Also you can only buy one time points Once a year I think. So if you buy 4 now you can't buy 2 later.

•One-time-use vacation points are vacation points available for Disney Vacation Club Members to use as an alternative to borrowing vacation points from the following use year's allotment.

•You can obtain a maximum of 24 one-time-use vacation points once per use year per membership.

•A maximum of 24 one-time-use vacation points are processed in a single transaction, not multiple transactions.

•The fee for one-time-use vacation points is $15 (including tax) per vacation point, and is subject to change.

•One-time-use vacation points expire according to the use year of the reservation booked and are non-refundable, non-transferable and cannot be banked or borrowed.

•One-time-use vacation points are not available for waitlist reservations.

•One-time-use vacation points cannot be applied retroactively to existing reservations.

•One-time-use vacation points are only available for Members whose contract is closed and in good standing.

•One-time-use vacation points are available only for Disney Vacation Club Resorts, Disney Collection*, and World Collection reservations.

* Available when you purchase directly from Disney.

•One-time-use vacation points used for Disney Vacation Club resort reservations can only be used up to 7 months prior to arrival.
