can we book a studio at BLT for a friday then move to a 1 bedroom on wednesday in the same booking or vacation? do we need to move our own luggage from room to room(of course all is packed) or what do we need to do? we are just wondering since we dont know too much about DVC and are willing to learn. thanks for your information.

You can move from one room type to another or from one resort to another in the middle of the trip. There will be separate reservation numbers and confirmations for each room, so I guess that's not technically the same "booking". And while it may be a pain to move there are a couple of incidental benefits: if you stayed in 1 room for 7 days, you get just a towel and trash visit on the 4th day, but if you move, you get the fresh linens and towels and clean room when you switch. You can sign up for the dining plan for just one of the rooms rather than for the whole trip. The bellhops can take and store the luggage when you check out of the first room and then bring them to the new room when you check back in. However, you will need to check out of the first room by 11 and there's no guarantee that the new room will be ready until after 4 pm, so you really won't be able to count on using the room during the day of your move.

Hope that helps.

Yes, it is called a split stay. We are doing this next summer. We booked the first 2 nights in a studio and then the last 4 in a 1 bedroom at BLT.

We did this for two reasons: 1. We want to to the DDP for only 2 nights (and QSDP for the rest) as we don't like a lot of TS meals and 2. We may want to try out BCV for the trip so we are going to try and switch those first 2 nights over at the 7 month mark.

When you split stay, you check in/out as though it is a new reservation. YOu can bring your luggage to bell services (or have them pick it up). They will hold it for you until your new room is ready. Sometimes it is early, and sometimes not.

When we were there in August, we split between BWV, BLT and VWL. Two out of the 3 rooms were there when we arrived at the resort between 8:00 am - 12:00 pm.

thanks for the great info 4Pluto & Sandisw. so its making different ressies for each stay/room. Hmmmmmmm can a 3 room change be made at your home resort at 11 months? thanks again

You can book whatever is available when you are ready to make the reservation. It is not one booking, but separate for each villa that you change to. Keep in mind you will need to be in the room for Bell Services to both pickup and then drop off your luggage in both resorts. Don't forget to tip each for their services.

You would not be able to make a reservation for the second room until 11 months from the start date of that stay.

So if you are arriving 11-1-10 for the studio, you could book that on 12-1-09. If you switch to the one bedroom on 11-5-10, you could book that on 12-5-09.

And you must check out and vacate each room by 11AM. Then you won't be able to get into the next room until possibly after 4PM (check in time for DVC). So you will be homeless for 5 hours every time you check out and check in.

If you don't have your own vehicle, you'd have to store your stuff with Bell Services.

We moved from 2 studios to a 2 bedroom during our recent stay. Bell services had our luggage that they will only deliver if you are in your room. Our 2 bedroom was ready at 3pm but we were already at DD about to take the bus to MK for the MNSSHP so didn't go to our room. At 1am when we got back from the party only 1 gal was on duty, no bell service, she gave us our luggage which we walked to our room. Quite a walk at 1 in the morning, not that many buses at that time. We were staying at OKW. Don't know if next time I'll plan a move if we have a full day at the parks planned.
