Can This Ring Be Resized? (Picture)

My original wedding band is too small for my finger. I believe it is a size 4.5, I am now a size 6. I was wondering if anyone has had their ring resized that has engraving on it, like mine. How did it come out? Thanks!

Probably they are going to tell you that there is nothing they can do short of sizing it, which would mean having the back of the ring solid without the engraved design. IMO, if you really want to wear it, I would opt to have it sized and loose the detailing on the back.

For $$$, I am sure a more custom-type jeweler would spend the time to mimic the detailing as they size it. It's up to you if the $$$ would be worth it.

In the past I have been told other than having a soldering mark (as in a solid verticle band where they had to add gold) on the back where the design wouldn't be, I was warned that they can only size rings like that about .5 size to maybe 3/4 size at most. They can stretch them some, but not much beyond that.

My wedding band is similar to yours and I've had to have it made bigger a few times (married 35 years! ) But it will have a solid gold piece with none of the fancy engraving on it. I just wear the solid part on the inside of my finger and it's not a problem.

I had to go up two sizes to wear mine. They had to redo the writing because it got messed up when the ring was heated.

Take it to a reputable jeweler and see what your options are. They might have to re-do the engraving, but that's worth it to have your ring fit better.

My wedding ring has a pattern similar to yours. The first jewelry store I went to said they could put in a solid gold piece to enlarge the ring. The second said they weren't sure if they could duplicate the pattern. I went with the second store. You have to look VERY closely at the ring to see where the ring was enlarged. They did a great job. I also had the engraving redone as the ring was cut off my finger, of course right in the middle of the engraving!

Thanks for your replies, everyone! I will take it to a jeweler now knowing of the options...it will be nice to wear it again after 10 years!
