I'm trying to come up with some ideas on how to best maximize our time at Futureworld. This is our only day at Epcot so we want to get as much in as possible. However, this is the planned "sleeping in" day, so we won't be able to get there before the crowds.

My mom never EVER sleeps in, so she will be up anyway so I thought this might be a good option to be able to ride thrillers. I'm just not sure about timing. Take a look at this plan and let me know if it would work:

Let everyone else sleep in (dh, dd4, ds5) and relax at the hotel.
Mom and I take the bus to Epcot at park opening. 8:45
FASTPASS Soarin for everyone, then ride in standby.
Go to Test Track and get a FASTPASS for everyone as soon as possible. When would this be????
Leave Epcot--take Monorail to TTC and transfer to resort monorail.
Go to 1900 Park Faire Breakfast by 10:20am (meet dh, ds and dd there)

How does this look so far? Will we be able to get 2 sets of Fastpasses at Epcot and return to Grand Floridian for 10:20 Breakfast? Should I try to make a later ADR? What is the usual time to get the next set of fastpasses after retrieving your first set at Soarin at park opening?[/color]

Once we get to Epcot in the afternoon, here is my tentative plan:

Noonish-- Ride Soarin with original Fastpasses (Fastpass again if interested)
12:30ish-- Ride Test Track with original Fastpasses (ride again as singles if interested)
1:00ish--MissionSpace singles line (just me, everyone else explore Innoventions EAST.)
1:30ish--Spaceship Earth and then Innoventions WEST
2-2:30ish--Lunch @ Sunshine Seasons
3ish--Journey and Imageworks
4ish--Honey
5ish--Living Seas w/Crush
6ish--Ride Soarin again w/ other set of fastpasses

Send kids home with mom if exhausted.
6:30 Check in @ Le Cellier for 7pm priority seating. (Hopefully will be able to be seated early)
8ish Walk around WS until Illuminations.

Is this plan way too ambitious? If so, what should I eliminate? Is there anything I forgot that is a can't miss? Please, any advice or suggestions is greatly appreciated.

You can't get fast passes on a ticket that wasn't used for admission. They would have to be in the park for you to be able to get the fast passes.

You have to wait an hour before you can get another FP. Also usually FP return times are about an hour from the time you get them. However on the more popular rides you may get it for a couple of hours away. But when you recieve your FP it will have a time frame on it ie. 9:00-10:00am you can only use your FP during this time frame. I know I accidentally went over our time once by 30 min. and was not allowed to enter I really don't think you will beable to do this. Sorry!!! I would say when you arrive head over to Soarin' get a FP then head for TT and do the singles line. Head back to Soarin' (if time, if not you go and do MS). Then you can grab a FP for something else if you want to ride it. Hope this helps and happy planning

What safetymom mentioned is correct, you will not be able to get FPs for tickets that were not swiped at the turnstiles. I also would not assume that you will be allowed on Soarin with FPs tht have gone past their alloted time, as you would probably be doing if you were going to breakfast at the GF after getting them. I know at some rides they will let you do this, but with the popularity of Soarin I wouldn't count on it.

My advice would be to either cancel your breakfast, or plan on getting to Epcot after you eat.

Oh, I didn't even think of that. So that messes everything up. I'm just trying to figure out a way to sleep in and maximize our Epcot day without spending too much time waiting in lines. It doesn't look like that will be possible.

Well, if we got to Epcot at 12pm, what is the liklihood of being able to ride both Test Track and Soarin'? We are going in Sept (which I know is usually less crowded, but with the free dining I am worried it may not be as slow as it would have been). Which should we FASTPASS first? When do fastpasses run out for these rides during the offseason?

Should we go to Soarin as soon as we get there, fastpass it, then wait in the standby line for Test Track?

I thought Epcot was experimenting with "unlimited fastpass" where you didn't have to wait?

Other than the fact that you can't get fastpasses that weren't swiped, as mentioned, what if you get a time before the rest of your party joins you?

Futureworld is fairly empty after dinner when most of the guests are in the countries. It is a nice time to tour this area in my opinion.

I'd say slim to none unless you want to spend a long time waiting in line. We went straight to Soarin' when the park opened. When we got off the ride about 30 minutes later, the standby line was already 60 minutes long and the FP were sold out until about noon.

Both Soarin' and TT have FP that disappear very quickly. And the lines get very long very quickly.

Were you there during peak or off season when they ran out of fastpasses so quickly? Or does this happen all year long? Can anyone comment on that? So, did they resume giving out fastpasses at noon?

I guess we will just have to wait in the lines if we want to ride these attractions or ditch the sleeping in plan. I really just wanted one day that wasn't so rushed (getting up and out the door so early). We do have one other day (our departure day) that we may be able to try to squeeze in a few attractions at park opening. I was leaving that opened for anything we missed or favorites. So that is another alternative.

We have dinner reservations at 7pm, so maybe we could try to walk on one of the rides right after or right before dinner. It may not be as crowded then.

When the fast passes for the day are gone, they are gone. No more issued.

Soarin' does run out quickly, so does Test Track. MS not so fast because not as many people can ride it - motion sickness.
