Can this be done?

We are looking for a dinner on our second night in epcot. We are booked into R&C the first visit for 7:40pm, just in case we don't get to see Illuminations due to being seated inside, we are visiting once again. We were going to have dinner at Alfredo's, but it is now two wishes, and I am not willing to risk wishes on an unknown meal.


So we have two options:

1. Head out to Big River BC and do the wait for a table outside, or
2. Have heard great things about the BD at MGM and think we might park hop for dinner then return for Illuminations.

The first choice is easy to work out. It is the second that I need help with. Can we take a boat to MGM then back to epcot, or do we have to take the boat to one of the resorts then transfer to an MGM boat? Can we get back to epcot after dinner in time for Illuminations?


Any help, hints, tips are greatly apprieciated!

Get on the boat at the IG at Epcot and it will take you to MGM. It will stop at BWI,YC/BC,S/D before it gets to MGM. You can use the boat to get back to Epcot. It follows the reverse route.

The boats stop servicing the particular park 1 hour after official park closing. So keep that in mind if running late.

Walking is faster. The boat probably takes forty minutes - once you get on it. Walking at a brisk pace probably takes less than twenty five.

If the boat isn't there when you get there, start walking to the Dolphin. The boat from the Dolphin will take about five minutes and save you a few steps.

Same thing on the way back, except see if a boat is pulling up at the BW.

If you are able to handle a half mile or so walk at a brisk pace, walk.

If I could ditch the mother in a ECV then walking would be my choice! Not going to happen though .

P.s. We will have a car at Epcot parking. What if we wanted to leave it at the TTC parking can we take the monorail after Illuminations? Thinking we might try our hands at some parkhopping , it will be our first attempt, but with only five and a half days, it looks like a must.

Yes, you can. The monorail will run to the TTC for at least an hour after EPCOT closes. Not sure about the trams, though. But since you are traveling with an ECV, I'm sure you will be in the handicapped parking area and not need a tram to get back to your car, anyway.
