We just returned home this morning. The TSA inspection was interesting with our two disassembled lightsabers, droid and yes, an empty SW sprite bottle. All passed through with no issues.

My wife had no issues with an empty Diet Coke 'bomb' as well as a light saber sticking out of her carry on. The first thing she said to the TSA agent was, I'll try not to stab you....I just stood there shaking my head.
