Can someone tell me what attraction this scene is from?

Hi all, sorry for the title of the post. We are leaving soon and we sat the kids down last weekend to watch the WDW planing dvd. Well, a scene came on with a huge lion head coming out of a screen and then a big snake slithered out of the screen (I believe from one of the 3D movies) and both of my kids were distraught! My 3 y.o. was almost in tears saying "I don't want to go there!" So, I am trying to avoid a diaster on our trip and stay away from whatever attraction this is in. Hopefully, someone here will know. I haven't been to Disney since '97 and I am assuming that it is something new. Thanks for any info!

Also if there are any attractions that come to mind, that are scary for little ones - who are big chickens (like their mother)! My 6 y.o. has been having nightmares lately so we know we will aviod the haunted mansion at least. Thanks! Chris.

That was from Honey I shrunk the Audience in EPCOT.

Sorry double post!

I would stay away from Snow WHite and Haunted Mansion with kids that scare easily.

That's the promo for Honey, I Shrunk the Audience in Epcot. I think the promo is worse than the movie! The good thing about 3D movies is, if you don't like what you're seeing, just close your eyes!

That's "Honey I Shrunk the Audience" at EPCOT. The 3D effects are a tad intense (even I close my eyes when the snake comes out  ), so if you're kids get frightened easily, I would avoid that. I would also stay clear from Haunted Mansion, It's Tough To Be A Bug at AK, Snow White at MK (the witch can be very scary for young kids), and maybe the Great Movie Ride at MGM (very realistic Witch from Wizard of OZ, scenes from Aliens, and shootout, and a scene in a mummy's tomb) and Pirates of the Caribbean (especially the beginning with the skeletons and "Dead Men Tell No Tales"). I'm probably forgeting a few but those are a few that I would definatly be cautious of doing with young kids.

Thanks so much for all your replys and sooo fast! You all are great. I will make sure that I put those on my list to saty away from. I hadn't even given snow white a thought. I am so thankful for these boards. My trip will go much smoother if I don't have screaming children. Come to think of it, all the other park goers and hotel guests will be happier too! Thanks again, Chris.

Stay far away from those two 3D shows. It's been five years, and my youngest still refuses to try the bug show again. He did HISTA last summer after five years and still doesn't like it. He loves all the thrill rides and is fine with things like Haunted Mansion, though.

If your children are timid, make sure to start out with tame, small-scale attractions. Our oldest child was anything but timid but he was overwhelmed by pirates -- a ride I had expected him to adore. I have no doubt he would have loved it if we had worked our way up to it. We started the middle child out on small world and that worked so much better. By the second day, he was ready for anything.

Once your kids get used to Disney attractions, things like piratesa and haunted mansion may be fine. Another not yet named that I would have doubts about: Dinosaur. It's very dark and pretty doggone scary when the big one jumps out at you.

My kids love all the rides listed below (Snow White, HM, POC) , but freak at the 3D movies. Especially ones with other sensor aspects. By 3yr DD raised the roof at the muppet 3D movie. You just never know.

Oh yes, "Honey I Shrunk The Audience" .... we saw that when my DD was 5 and it really freaked her out. The part that really got her was when the mice tails whip around and hit you in the legs.

The mouse tails freak me out, too! My DD and I love HISTA, but we watch it with our legs tucked up underneath us!

HISTA kinda spooked dd when she was 5; the part where the snake came out at her...she didn't like that part...but did alright overall with it.....have heard alot about snow white; dd was fine with that one....dinosaur can be a little spooky for the little ones; it's quite loud....

Have you looked at the book "Walt Disney World with Kids" by Kim Wright Wiley? It's GREAT about telling you the "Scare Factor" for all the rides!! It really prepared us and helped us decide which rides to avoid when we took our boys in March 2003. (They were 3 and 17 months at that time.) And btw, my 3 yr old LOVED the Haunted Mansion! He asked to go back on it after we did it the first time. We did not do Honey I Shrunk the Audience, so I don't know how that would have gone...

Here is a tip that I use with my kids, ages 10 and 4.
Get them a little squeeze light. I gave one to my kids and told them if they ever are scared they can give their light a hug to help them feel better. We found cute Tigger and Pooh shaped ones at kmart, the light is fairly dim so it won't bother anyone else.
My daughter especially used it whenever she was unsure on something. It helped to give her something else to focus on.

I especially agree about It's Tough to Be a Bug. Makes even older kids cry!
Also Fantasmic can be a little scary. We saw a lot of parents taking their children out of the ampitheater.

My tough DS 5yrs old was scared horribly after seeing It's tough to be a bug. Every attraction we que up for after that he asked neverously "Do things pop out at you during this one?"

A year later we tried to take the kids to see Spy Kids 3D & he would not even go into the theater.

Dinosaur, Snow White, Haunted Mansion he loved. I am hopeing he grows out of the 3D fear as other DS & DD love those the best.

Besides the lion and snake, when these suddenly appear and "strick out" at the audience, the sound they make is very loud and sudden. I've heard kids scream and cry after those two things. :(

The one ride that scared my daughter when she was little was Splash Mountain. She hated that big drop at the end and was mad at us for taking her on it!

the first time we went to see ttbabug..we sat in a very, very wide isle. and you do not get any special effects (the back poking and the mice at your feet) but we didn't know and there is an entire isle, when everyone was yelling and crying we couldn't figure it out, until another year, you can ask when you are waiting for the show ...,also works with some rides at UNIV. again we got in a very wide isle for the terminater show and there is no seat shaking and effects..also my 5 yr.old just doesn't wear the glasses..except for muppets...
